USA Today best-seller and Agatha Award Winner Winner for Best First Novel
Full of simmering suspense and intrigue
Liz Talbot is a modern Southern belle: she blesses hearts and takes names. She carries her Sig 9 in her Kate Spade handbag, and her golden retriever, Rhett, rides shotgun in her hybrid Escape. When her grandmother is murdered, Liz high-tails it back to her South Carolina island home to find the killer. But when her police-chief brother shuts her out of the investigation, she opens her own. Then her long-dead best friend pops in and things really get complicated. As more folks turn up dead, Liz must use more than just her wits and charm to keep her family safe, chase down clues from the hereafter, and catch a psychopath before he catches her.

"Imaginative, empathetic, genuine, and fun, Lowcountry Boil is a lowcountry delight." (Carolyn Hart, Author of What the Cat Saw)
"It's a simmering gumbo of a story full of spice, salt, heat and shrimp. She had me guessing, detouring for a few laughs then doubling back for another clue right until the last chapter." (The Huffington Post)
I passed this book up several times before finally giving it a chance. I'm glad I decided to listen to it. It was very entertaining. The characters were realistic and intersting. The plot was believable and nicely paced. This was an enjoyable book and I will buy the next in the series.
The book was a departure for me from listening to the same author for a while. The book was entertaining and the author did a good job of not revealing the final ending through a series of plot twists. Looking forward to picking up the next in the series.
In the top 80% out of 100%. Great narrator and story.. I'm definitely buying the next two in the series. I've listened to a lot of audio books of many genres over the years so my ranking may not sound very high, but in this books genre and type , I'd rank it 98%. More books please!!
Yes it did. There were many twists and turns and every other chapter had another "event" to keep you on the edge of your seat and trying to solve the mystery. The characters were so likeable and "hateable" One I wanted to shake and others just hug.. Do not want to give away the plot, but Colleen stole the show.
I loved her very authentic accent and her enunciation. She is perfect for Susan Boyer!
Yes, but unfortunately, I can't, but I also bought the ebook and toggled back and forth.
Just a great book, but an unknown author who will not stay that way for long. Please more books and thank you!
Fully enjoyable mystery that you could really sink your teeth into. I loved Liz, and her ghostly assistant. The mystery had heft, the characters were memorable and well used, and I was completely caught up in life on The island.
Enjoyable, light mystery. However, I would not recommend the audio version. I'm not from South Carolina, nor am I great with identifying regional accents, but something about the narrator's accent didn't ring true; it sounded forced to me. Also, the sound quality was not up to par for most Audible productions. Read the book in print instead.
Enjoyed the story, the main personalities and the clever dialogue. The narrator was perfect for the southern style and story! Will listen to the rest of the series with pleasure!
