WHO DO YOU LOVE?
One question, a split-second decision, and Brian Darby lies dead on the kitchen floor. His wife, state police trooper Tessa Leoni, claims to have shot him in self-defense, and bears the bruises to back up her tale. For veteran detective D. D. Warren it should be an open-and-shut case. But where is their six-year-old daughter?
AND HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO...
As the homicide investigation ratchets into a frantic statewide search for a missing child, D. D. Warren must partner with former lover Bobby Dodge to break through the blue wall of police brotherhood, seeking to understand the inner workings of a trooper’s mind while also unearthing family secrets. Would a trained police officer truly shoot her own husband? And would a mother harm her own child?
...TO SAVE HER?
For Tessa Leoni, the worst has not yet happened. She is walking a tightrope, with nowhere to turn, no one to trust, as the clock ticks down to a terrifying deadline. She has one goal in sight, and she will use every ounce of her training, every trick at her disposal, to do what must be done. No sacrifice is too great, no action unthinkable. A mother knows who she loves. And all others will be made to pay.
Love you more...

"This book had me at the author’s name. Lisa Gardner…no one owns this corner of the genre the way she does - And Love You More might be her best ever." (Lee Child)
"Tessa Leoni is a dedicated single mom when she is swept away by a man who turns out to be the wrong guy. Emotionally true, harrowing, and unputdownable. Brava, Lisa Gardner!" (Lisa Scottoline)
"A heart-pounding tale of family drama by the Mozart of thriller writers. I could not tear myself away." (Tess Gerritsen)
"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you," and Lias Gardner ALWAYS makes you paraniod -- another great installment to the series. Once you start, you can't stop until you get to the end, but you're worried about what's waiting at the end-- as usual. Can't wait for the next one.
I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!
STORY (mystery/detective) - Wow, what a ride! This story is intriguing and suspenseful till the very end. Tessa, a Massachusetts State Trooper, is accused of killing her husband and hiding or killing her young daughter, Sophie. There are two narrators telling the story from the perspectives of two of the main characters -- D.D. Warren, the female Boston detective investigating the case, and Tessa herself as she tries to find her daughter and clear her name. It's definitely not classic literature and there are a few places where I scratched my head as to a character's motive or common sense, but then the suspense would snap me right back into the story. Tessa is smart and tough as nails. You will love how she works to outsmart everyone, and you will totally understand my headline by the end of the book.
PERFORMANCE - There are two good female narrators, a deeper voice with a Boston-ish accent for DD and a softer voice for Tessa. I loved the distinction as the characters told their stories.
OVERALL - This book is cop versus cops, so there's action, cursing and killing, but nothing that I'd consider graphic violence. No sex. This is Book 5 in a series about Detective DD Warren, but the story stands alone. It's my first book by this author, but I plan to look for more. Women will especially like this story because they will identify with Tessa's plight, but guys will definitely like it too. Recommended for anyone who likes police procedural mysteries.
I think that when I downloaded this book, someone had said the this was "maybe" Lisa Gardner's best book. "Maybe", my you know what!
It IS her best book! I liked what the readers did with the voices and how they weaved the web. I listen in the car and multiple times I was yelling WOA! or WHAT????
You will love this book.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book, so I didn't know what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. Since listening to some of her other stories, this is not her best one, but definitely a good listen. Keeps you on your toes and keeps you guessing. Lots of twists and turns and pretty good narration. Some of it was frustrating because I didn't really like the main character that much, but it was still a good listen.
It pulled me in and I couldn't stop till the end and then I listened to it againLisa Gardner has a way of bringing out all your emotions with great characters.
Tesse Leone was a great character she seemed so fragile in the beginning but she is anything but especially training to fight at the academy. Det. DD Warren is great i LOVE her character but only when Kirsten Potter is narrating.this is a story about what a mother would do to save her child and the emotions run high.It also has a bit of humor with DD Warren being pregnant.
I would give them a 10 if I could. I cannot listen to a book that Kirsten Potter was not Det DD Warren. Katie Mac Nichol has a soft sweet voice the opposite of Potter. together they worked well
Yes it certainly made me cry and even laugh a little
This is on my top ten books to listen to and I'm sure I will listen to it again.
This mystery is filled with twists and turns!! You never knew what was coming next. I literally stopped doing all the responsibilities I could get out of just so I could keep listening to this book. I truly wish there were more books like this one!!!!
Life is great!
I probably would listen to this again after some time. I truly enjoyed the story and the narrator!
I enjoyed the telling of how Tessa and her husband met and the romance that followed even though this is primarily a who done it!
I wouldn't listen to this book in one sitting because part of the enjoyment is thinking about the story and characters throughout the day. Take your time and enjoy. I would recommend this book and author to everyone that like a really good mystery.
I am a Lisa Gardner fan, considering her a pretty decent read or listen. Love You More is one of her best. You relate to the main character, state patrol officer, Tessa Leoni, and Katie MacNichol does a fantastic job of reading and becoming her. As always, Kirstin Potter is D.D Warren, am not sure anyone else could portray her as well.
The story keeps you intrigued, moving from past to present with ease where you don't have to back up your ipod and go 'What?'.
The story is simple to understand but unexpected and I know more than one time I felt the love this woman had for her daughter and understood it. The ending brought a few tears to my eyes.
The only bad part, for me, was D.D Warren herself. I find her character sometimes too hard, too obstinant, picking things apart to the point where its ridiculous. I understand she is supposed to see the bad in all things but you find yourself saying..oh for goodness sake..you're a cop? So, as always, I find that she can rub me the wrong way. And during this book, Lisa Gardner does try to add some sensitivity to her, but she misses in the fact that it isn't for Tessa, it's for herself. and I feel it falls a little flat.
BUT, I wouldn't pass up this book, it kept me wanting to listen, which I have done by going back several times since owning it, and listening to it again. The story was just that clever for me. That emotional. I don't feel you'd be disappointed.
This book was very well written and performed. The two voices for the two viewpoints made the book easy to follow. I loved the twists and the way you just weren't sure what was going on until the end. A real whodunnit!!
This is the very first Lisa Gardner book I've listened to and have become a big fan! Her plot and twists throughout the book kept me wanting to hear more and more. The narrators did an excellent job of portraying the characters in the storyline as well. I recommend this book!!! You will not regret it!
