Publisher's summary

Lisa Scottoline breaks new ground in Look Again, a thrilling audiobook that's both heart-stopping and heart-breaking, and sure to have new fans and book clubs buzzing.

When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops—the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth.

And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up? She investigates, uncovering clues no one was meant to discover, and when she digs too deep, she risks losing her own life—and that of the son she loves.

Silly story.

Heroine supposed to be strong, independent career woman, raising adopted boy. Not. Plot is boring, scenes with child are cloying, and female character is unappealing. The ending was a pleasant surprise. Clever twist.

Predictable and Contrived.

I liked the protagonist and as a mother my sympathies were at play. I longed for this woman to get a happy answer. I longed for a book which was tied up with a big, sappy, beautiful bow. But as a reader that is rarely challenging or intriguing. Also, I only love mysteries when they offer shock, twisted plots or characters, antagonists to hate, a likable supporting cast and flawed, real protagonists. This book offered little of any of those elements. So 2 stars is all I can give this one.

Mary Stuart Mastersin, however, was superb. I loved her mommy voice for her interactions with Will. I heard my own voice in hers.

Great listen.

An interesting story with enough twists and turns to keep it from becoming predictable. Good narration. Always a plus! I would recommend.

This could happen to any adoptive parent

I really loved this book. From the moment the Adoptive mom gets a plain post card with the picture of a missing child, throughout the search for the proof that it is impossible that this is a picture of the Will, the boy she had adopted from a hospital two years ago. There is a romance of course, betrayal by a friend, her attorney slain. At last when she puts all the pieces together, she manages to keep her son. so often we read about the adoptive parent losing a child for some reason that seems unfair. This is a great read.

A could-have-been-great novel

CAUTION: SEMI SPOILER. A compelling story, wonderfully human and believably suspenseful - to a point. It falls apart when the author begins to justify the trite ending by turning the child's biological parents into villains. I thought Scottaline was going to challenge herself, her heroine, and the other adults involved to find a humane and loving solution; that might have been unrealistic but not nearly so much as the contrived happily-ever-after. Worthwhile entertainment that ultimately disappoints.

great

I really enjoyed this book and the narrator did a fantastic job. I listen to loads of mysteries so it's nice when I find out that isn't formulaic. And if you're a parent, have a box of tissues handy!

An okay read

This started out very interesting and then ran into a wall about halfway through. I like Lisa Scottoline but this book was not her best. I saw the ending coming a mile away.
