Publisher's summary

Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her. In the years since, Terese has had no contact with her ex-husband, until the phone call that brought her to Paris.

When she gets there he's been murdered, and she's a suspect. But then comes a startling piece of evidence that turns the entire case upside down, laying bare Terese's long-buried family secrets in a most shocking way and leaving Myron nowhere to turn for help. Caught in a foreign landscape where nothing is as it seems, he must tear apart the city - and eventually the globe - fighting for answers to unfathomable questions that will take Myron, and millions of Harlan Coben readers, where they have never gone before.

Good Find

I rarely purchase additional books, normally get my two per month. This was promoted on Audible at a sale price and it was more than worth it. As my title states, it was a good find. I thought that I had figured out the plot in the first couple of hours but I was wrong. I'm glad I was. The story did not go in the usual direction.
Steven Weber did an excellent reading. He reminded me Scott Brick. I want to hear more of his work. Great job Steven!

One of Coben's best books!

A Myron Bolitar story that takes Myron to Europe where through an old girlfriend he finds himself in the middle of a terrorist plot. Well Done.

Good read but not the same

I enjoyed the story line. However, since changing who narrates, the characters don’t have the same vibe.

Not bad for my first Coben, but....

I cannot give this five stars because I can't think of a book I've read without flaws except maybe the Bible...Coben's plotting is pretty darn good, with decent plot twists and a never-saw-it-coming end but the 3 stars come from the slightly annoying Myron Bolitar and the cartoon caricature sidekick Win (sp?)...I can't suspend disbelief long enough to buy into two characters that deal with such violence and terrorist plots with so much James Bond-like flippancy. It's hard for me to become tense or moved to tears in one chapter when something deep or dangerous happens when these two clowns have been trading jokes (like the consistent puns on the Asian girlfriend named "Me"...really?) for three hours.
Weber's narration is great and fits the character, it's just hard to buy into the character himself. But again...Coben's plotting is awesome...just wish his character took things a bit more seriously. But...I would encourage others to give him a try...he's a bestseller for a reason.

2nd Time Listening

I loved this novel even better the 2nd time!!! The narrator in this novel is better than the last (Promise Me); although Esperanza's voice is atrocious😛. The narrator's voice with the earlier books in the series was perfect. Nevertheless, loved this book😃 Almost done with the Myron B series; what will I do🤔

I love listening to Stephen Weber read but...

This change from the previous narrator to him is a little harsh. His voicing of Esparanza is especially annoying as he gave her some weird suburban housewife accent. Otherwise this was a good story.

Good story, Awful performance

Weber's narration of Espiranza is criminal. Terese's name is now suddenly pronounced "Tahrez"? Does the author/publisher/editor even listen to these before they are released?

Another great Myron Bolitar and Win Lockwood tale

Great story line, interesting twists and superb narration. Stephen Weber really nails the characters. If you’re a fan of the Myron Bolitar series, this is a “must listen”!

Tortured narration

spoiler alert, at one point in the book there's a segment where the main character is being tortured. The narration for this is so ridiculous that it pretty much killed the whole thing for me. I seriously struggled to get through that part wishing that they would just shut up and read the whole time. I love the story, I love this author, it was just so completely different than the rest of the book that it took me out of it and irritated me to the point where I stopped and waited for a different day to continue.
