Publisher's summary

Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her. In the years since, Terese has had no contact with her ex-husband, until the phone call that brought her to Paris.

When she gets there he's been murdered, and she's a suspect. But then comes a startling piece of evidence that turns the entire case upside down, laying bare Terese's long-buried family secrets in a most shocking way and leaving Myron nowhere to turn for help. Caught in a foreign landscape where nothing is as it seems, he must tear apart the city - and eventually the globe - fighting for answers to unfathomable questions that will take Myron, and millions of Harlan Coben readers, where they have never gone before.

Very Engaging

This was my first Harlan Coben book and will not be my last! Very fast paced and interesting characters which were believable because of the superb narration by Steven Weber.

Great story and performance

Really enjoyed the intriguing plot. End seemed a bit far fetched but a good twist.

Best Audiobook In Awhile

I really enjoyed this audiobook! First one I’ve listened to in awhile and it was a great choice. I have some of his other books in my wishlist.

Author: All of Harlan Coben’s stories have twists and turns that keep you guessing until the very end. You think you have it figured out but you don’t. I highly recommend reading / listening to any of his works. You won’t be disappointed.

Narration: The narrator was excellent - with accents and switching over to other characters.

Plot: I won’t give too much away but this book starts off with Myron Bolitar getting a phone call from his ex girlfriend asking him to come to Paris as soon as possible. He ends up going without knowing what he’s in for, and the book takes off from there. His ex girlfriend received a similar phone call from her ex husband asking her to meet him in Paris prior to her call to Myron. Together they untangle a murder, lies, and eventually something bigger.

Loved it!

I didn't care for the narrator in the book previous to this one so was sceptical at 1st period but Steven Weber nailed it. His accents were outstanding and given the number of different ones in this particular plot I absolutely loved it. Bravo. Am looking forward to the next 1

Narrator is horrible

Why does Espiranza sound like a 80 year old male farmer? Other than her, every female sounds the same. Jonathan Marosz was so much better.

If only...

If only the book had been narrated by another person, I would have loved this audiobook as much as I love all the Myron Bolitar audiobooks. Although I became accustomed to Steven Weber's weak-voiced (certainly not 6'4", 220 lbs.) Myron Bolitar, it was as though no thought whatsoever was given to the secondary characters. Words cannot describe how badly Steven Weber's characterization of Esperanza grated on my nerves. Win was a nonentity. I was looking forward to this continuation of the series, but the narration was almost insulting, it was so bad.

Steven Weber is a Narrator for the Ages!!!!

This is my first Harlan Coben book, and Steven Weber just brings the book to life. The smart alec tone, the comic timing is impeccable. You should absolutely give this a listen. The book fell a little flat in the end...it didn't end it just kind of stopped (maybe a Coben staple...don't really know), but I'm definately going to listen to more. DEFINATELY worth the credit!!!

Not my favorite

Good story, but too much violence and graphic details of the killings. Narrator was very good!

A must read!

I adore this author for the plot twists, intensity, humor and diabolical nature of his novels. I laughed out loud multiple times & also had my jaw drop to the floor constantly. GREAT READ
