Secrets can scandalize....

In a lovely suburban town just north of New York City, the gossip mill runs more efficiently than the commuter-train line. And in every impeccably decorated house, they're talking about Lauren Walsh. They say that nothing could be worse than being abandoned by your husband for another woman. They're wrong.

Secrets can shock....

All Lauren wants is to protect her children from the pain of her messy divorce. But when their father goes missing, a case of mistaken identity puts all their lives in danger, and a stealthy predator lurks in the shadows, watching...waiting.

Secrets can kill....

Lauren is about to uncover an unfathomable truth, a truth this cold-blooded mastermind would never let her live to tell.

Disappointing

After reading some of the reviews for this book, I expected a suspenseful ride. I got a slow walk to a mundane ending. For most of the book, we have no idea why Lauren Walsh in in danger. We watch her go through her days, unable to contact her ex-husband who is vacationing with his new girlfriend. Why does this matter? Lauren's whiny young daughter has lost a stuffed toy her father gave her and won't shut up about it. Various other characters come and go and we have no idea why they matter or what they have to with anything. It's not until the last hour or so of the book, that any of it starts to make sense and by then I was past caring. Suddenly, the sinister plot is revealed as if pulled out of a hat. A thoroughly wasted credit.

Review

This story isn’t that good but I do like a lot of her books. Some are to wordy and have too many characters to keep straight. The nightwatcher series is really good. O

Compelling Thriller

Wendy Corsi Straub presents a gripping tale. There is a good balance of suspense as she draws you into the story. Using the narrative of the main character interspersed with parts of the story seen through a child's point of view made this very enjoyable for me. Good narration by Jennifer Van Dyck. Interesting and well developed characters, this audiobook is professionally written and produced. I will be looking forward to reading more titles from Wendy Corsi Straub.

Surprised

I didn't know what to expect when I downloaded this book. after reading a lot of other books by the author I gave it shot. It started off really slow, and I had become bored with it. But I'm not the type to give up once I start something. I was surprised with the turn it took, and in the end it really surprised me, leaving me satisfied. Thank you Wendy, I love your books.
