Dev Sinclair is the happy new owner of the old-fashioned shop in her small Missouri town. But if she doesn't focus on finding the killer of her ex's fiance, this five-and-dime owner may find herself serving 25 to life.

I like the mystery setting of the small midwestern town; much like Swanson's Scumble River series, I like the setting and the characters-especially single gal Devereaux, who lives with her quirky grandmother, and owns the local dime store.
Don't tune out after the murder is "solved"-the ending is a doozy!
Devereaux will be every reader's favorite character-she is trying to start her life again in her home town after her stint working for a crooked investment backer in the city. And she is making a go of it, even with family baggage that doesn't easily go away in a small town. She really finds herself in a pickle, and has to rally all of her resources to solve the mystery of who killed her ex-boyfriend's fiancee!
RETIRED & LOVING IT.
The story line was just awful, i could not finish the 2'nd chapter. It kept getting worse.
This was an interesting premise, interesting characters, how the story/mystery unfolded was a little disjointed in some areas. I might read the next one we will see...
I don't think anything could have to be honest. The narrator was driving me insane but the book was equally as bad so it was pretty much a hopeless scenario. If I knew how to return it for a refund, I totally would.
Probably the next book in the Enchanted Inc series.
I can't remember where my problem with the book began, but I can tell you the moment the love interest said (I'm paraphrasing):
"I'll try to help you Darling, but I must warn you - my life is in danger!"
That was the end of the end. Seriously. I can clearly tell that no one taught this author the benefits of "show don't tell" as a narrative tool, but there's no excuse for the editor that decided to publish it.
A different narrator! Geez it was so painful to hear her interpretation of the characters voices! I did enjoy the book, the author was thoughtful and it was definitely not predictable. I did enjoy that there were unanswered questions that keep you wanting to pick up the next in her series.
Birdy! What a great character!
How doesn't she, I just didn't understand Poppy & Jakes voices?! Did Poppy have a bad case of laryngitis?! And Jake was so quiet that half the time I was at full volume. I just don't understand how the producer was listening to this and didn't call for a redo!!
I enjoyed the full written content.
Please choose a different narrator or have her fix those characters voices. I wont be picking up the next book in the series due to narrator.
This an OK read. Kinda cute, kinda cozy. I'm sure I would not have finished this in print. It's really a 2.5 star but I'm sweet & always round up. I'll try something else of hers someday. Maybe even another Devereaux Dime Store Mystery!
