Publisher's summary

Unlock a new level of fear. It is well known among law enforcement personnel that murderers can be categorized on a scale of 25 levels of evil, from the naive opportunists starting out at Level 1 to the organized, premeditated torture-murderers who inhabit Level 25. What almost no one knows - except for the elite unnamed investigations group assigned to hunt down the world's most dangerous killers, a group of men and women accounted for in no official ledger, headed by the brilliant but reluctant operative Steve Dark - is that a new category of killer is in the process of being defined. Only one man belongs to this group. His targets: Anyone. His methods: Unlimited. His alias: Sqweegel. His classification: Level 26.

Excellent story

I am so glad I decided to listen to this first book in the series. The storyline flowed smoothly with great amount of detail. John Glover is an Awesome narrator. From the beginning of the story he gave me the creeps whenever he voiced the nemesis of the book. I felt like he was in the same room with me. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of horror, crime, and suspense.

26

Don't really care for this type of narrating Too much going on. I only meant to hit 2 stars and I couldn't seem to get the others off. I doubt I get anymore of this series.

Level 26 - not worth the time!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If the reader hadn't been so over the top dramatic. There were a few times when his tone seemed consistant with the story; but for the most part it was annoyingly overly screechy and dramatic.

Would you ever listen to anything by Anthony E. Zuiker again?

Nope. While the premice was interesting, the actual story was predictable and boring.

Would you be willing to try another one of John Glover’s performances?

Doubtful. I don't believe he has much of an ability to broaden his performance.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Level 26?

The last chapter where they pressed him back into service. . . REALLY? not believable.

Any additional comments?

Really disappointed.

It was O.K.

I get the idea, a super-bad criminal, off the charts bad, but no one is THAT good at being bad -- it just wasn't credible, there were too many "OH, COME ON!!" moments. I can't say it was a total waste of a credit, it did keep me occupied on my bike rides but I won't read any more of this series.

great read!!!

As part 1 in a series, i wasnt sure what i was in for, but it was a great surprise....characters were well written but the interactive part kinda sucked...the actor that they got to play the lead was a let down....i had someone else in my head. The actor they got to play the serial killer was terriffic. Give the series a try, it was good.

The protagonist's name is Dark. That says it all.

I know "cliche-ridden" is itself a cliche, but damn, this book is cliche-ridden. The actor certainly makes the serial killer character interesting, and he seems to be having fun -- I'm glad someone is -- but the good guys are so damn boring, and the bad guy stops being interesting after a few chapters. Disappointing!

One of the best!!

What made the experience of listening to Level 26 the most enjoyable?

I had a hard time turning this book off.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Level 26?

The interactive portion, to see clips of the storyline as it was unfolding was a new and unique experience.

What about John Glover’s performance did you like?

It took me a while to get used to Mr. Glover's voice, about a quarter into the book, I didn't notice the performace, I was so facinated with the story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wanted the next installment in the series, I'm facinated with Serial Killers; books, movies, TV shows.

Any additional comments?

The sound at the end of the chapters freaked me out.

Never met expectations

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Minimum story, limited character development, more detail on the exploits than the explanation of the story. It was ok, but nothing terribly exciting.

Would you ever listen to anything by Anthony E. Zuiker again?

Yes

What does John Glover bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Gives good expression and voice to the bad guy.

Could you see Level 26 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, it is superficial enough. No A listers.

Gimmicky

A book for the MTV generation. It reads like a bad CSI episode. Save your money
