Publisher's summary

Everyone's got their hands full in Oyster Bay, North Carolina. Aside from two upcoming weddings, there's also the historical society's annual fund-raiser: the Secret Garden Party and Candlelit Ball. Adding to the excitement, Olivia witnesses the discovery of a time capsule in the foundation of a local church. The historical society president hopes to display its contents at their party, but when the items are finally revealed to the public, Olivia notices that one of them has vanished. After a frightening find beneath the pier - the body of Ruthie Holcomb - Olivia is certain that there's a connection between the young woman's death and the missing piece from the time capsule. With the help of her fellow Bayside Book Writers, Olivia sets out to uncover some clues and ensure that a killer has no reason to celebrate....

Love the Series

What made the experience of listening to Lethal Letters the most enjoyable?

I have read all the books in this series so far. Since I get them from Audible it doesn't take long at all to go through them. I especially loved the ending in this one. I hope it doesn't mean that it's the end of the series. It could open up to so much more. I think the narrator speaks this series in such a way that she sounds like she comes from money and a sophisticated back ground. I like that Ellery Adams kept the same narrator. I find that Authors that change narrators through a series tend to lose something. Great read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Olivia of course, She had turmoil in her life at the beginning but came to terms with everything and ended up having friends and much much more. Not wanting to give away anything for those who haven't got to read it yet

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending

Any additional comments?

Hope there's more to the series !!

The. Best Yet

All of the Bayside novels are perfect blend of mystery and characters to know and wish as your own friends. Along with this, Lethal Letters had an extra dose of heart. I was even teary for both sorrow and joy. I recommend the whole series.

Huge factual problems with this one!

The first time the author wrote that Olivia and Hudson were "not blood Kin" I thought she just made a mistake. In this book, only a few chapters in and the author has stated that these two children of identical twin brothers are not kin, not related and "do not share a drop of blood between them"! This would not be a big thing except now she is using it as some dark secret that might make them lose one another!!? Ridiculous! They are not only first cousins but much closer cousins because their fathers are twin brothers who are identical - right down to their DNA!

The characters remain just too shallow for words as the author tells us time and again of some mystical connection in which her protagonist personalizes her relationship to persons she has just met or persons she first sees after death. Olivia is just an unlikable self centered woman who gets away with rude intrusive behavior and evidence tampering due to her money and power. The fact that she supposedly graduated from college but doesn't know how biologically closely she is relate to her own cousin . . . . just can't read anymore . . .

Author also rewriting history from first book where girl jumped into a dinghy and father did not know and sailed on to now saying her father set her adrift in a dinghy! gotta raise that hysterical suffering to a higher degree now.

A Must Listen Mystery!

I can't say this enough, but this is an absolutely outstanding cozy mystery series. The characters are so well developed, and with each book you get to know them even more intimately. The plot lines aren't cookie cutter, they have deep roots that grow book by book. But it's the narration which really brings this story perfectly to life. Each character has a unique and distinguishable voice that fits their description & personality impeccably.
If you can, start this series from the beginning. It's much more satisfying to begin with book 1 and grow with the characters, but if you choose to jump in here at book 6 you will get filled in without any problems.
This story (like all the others) is not only interesting, but also very compelling. A time capsule has been unearthed and inside it holds a web of lies & secrets that leads to murder. Olivia has a heart of gold and you really feel for her as she dedicates herself to finding justice at all costs. She's a strong heroine that lends a breath of fresh air to the cozy mystery genre. A must listen!

fact check

While still enjoyable, factual errors are a distraction. Peaches don't grow on vines and genetically, children of identical twins are half siblings .

Good mystery

Exciting and suspenseful. Frustratingly sad because of the deaths, but balanced out well at the end.
