Publisher's summary

When her four-year-old daughter informs her a sick man is in their yard, Honor Gillette rushes out to help him. But that "sick" man turns out to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of murdering seven people the night before. Dangerous, desperate, and armed, he promises Honor that she and her daughter won't be hurt as long as she does everything he asks. She has no choice but to accept him at his word.

But Honor soon discovers that even those close to her can't be trusted. Coburn claims that her beloved late husband possessed something extremely valuable that places Honor and her daughter in grave danger. Coburn is there to retrieve it - at any cost. From FBI offices in Washington, D.C., to a rundown shrimp boat in coastal Louisiana, Coburn and Honor run for their lives from the very people sworn to protect them, and unravel a web of corruption and depravity that threatens not only them, but the fabric of our society.

Classic Sandra Brown book

I’ve read about six Sandra Brown books. There is always a manly man, a woman in distress and very descriptive sexual encounters. Even though I pretty much can predict each story’s ending, I would still read more of her books, specially when narrated by Victor Slezak.

Fantastic!

Where does Lethal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Lethal ranks among my top 5.

What did you like best about this story?

Story kept your attention by alot of twists, turns and constant action.

What does Victor Slezak bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great ability to portray the right emotions at the right time. A great plus having that deep even tone that added sensuality during the intimate interactions between the two main protagonists.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This book was a one sitting read. I did not want to put it down.

Any additional comments?

This was my first Sandra Brown book and I was extreamly impressed! One does not come across an author that can keep the story flowing so well with so many twists and turns. I will be looking much closer at some of her other works.
Slezak was also an added plus. He has the ability portray many parts in a believable and articulate manner.
GREAT BOOK!

Highly disappointed

I was disappointed. I was able predict the bookkeeper within 2hours of listening to the book.. The storyline was boring and hard to follow!! This book could have been an eight hours book instead of 12

Great Story

This story was so full of suspense wish it had a better ending that didn't leave me hanging on whether Honor and Colburn found eachother.

A near miss

This story has all the elements, too many of them. If you're using a formula for a certain kind of book, you don't have to insert ALL the items. 1) woman in danger, make her a single mother, a widow, give her a little girl. 2) handsome, manly-man, Dangerous, but turns out to be the good guy. Too obvious. It is not faultlessly crafted. It also has too many elements that don't make enough sense, they should have been left out. It doesn't add up at the end. Perhaps there should have been more editing. It ends up formulaic. It's a pretty good idea, but perhaps if it was pared down and then polish what's left it could have been much better.
The "communication" with the Bookkeeper premise that is dropped in at the end does not fit how it is handled earlier in the book. It doesn't work. It becomes a little too obvious that certain facts are being withheld to spring on us later, and so it isn't a surprise.
I did enjoy it, but the only thinking it made me do was "Why the heck did the author do that, it doesn't work?" It really needs better editing. Firm editing.

The narration was excellent.

First Sandra Brown-Lived up to hype with exception

If you could sum up Lethal in three words, what would they be?

Detailed, intriguing, predictable

Who was your favorite character and why?

Stan - Dedication to his principles. His character was abrasive (as it was written to be) but love for his family caused him to have blinders on

What does Victor Slezak bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Liked his reading of the male characters. Found his reading of Emily to be annoying

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Honor talking to Stan and helping him to see the forest and not just the treees
