Publisher's summary

In Leaving Everything Most Loved by New York Times best-selling author Jacqueline Winspear, Maisie Dobbs investigates the murder of Indian immigrants in London.

The year is 1933. Maisie Dobbs is contacted by an Indian gentleman who has come to England in the hopes of finding out who killed his sister two months ago. Scotland Yard failed to make any arrest in the case, and there is reason to believe they failed to conduct a thorough investigation. The case becomes even more challenging when another Indian woman is murdered just hours before a scheduled interview. Meanwhile, unfinished business from a previous case becomes a distraction, as does a new development in Maisie's personal life.

Bringing a crucial chapter in the life and times of Maisie Dobbs to a close, Leaving Everything Most Loved marks a pivotal moment in this outstanding mystery series.

Excellent! One of the best of the series!

I loved this book. A lot of emotion. I really disliked the person who killed the two women and wanted that person caught and punished. I pretty much disliked all the suspects and the people questioned also because I figured all of them were racists, at least. I’m excited to hear (audio books) her next adventures.

Maisee meets another culture

This story is literally a taxi to takeoff in Maisie's personal journey. Brings in a lot of cultural elements that give Orlagh Cassidy some new accents to try. Pretty predictable but still Winspear.

heartbreaking

A very vivid picture of what lasting and far reaching damage the first world war did to the minds and bodies of men, women and their families.

One of the best in the series

I don't want to give away the plot so I will just say that the mystery itself had enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. The main characters continued to develop. And your intriguing descriptions that encouraged me to revisit historical information concerning the British Empire in India. Mazie Dobbs herself can be a character who is difficult to like. She's over analytical about herself and her life. I also find her to be judgmental and insufferable at times. If I met her I wouldn't like her. However, the stories are saved by other interesting characters and her pursuit to solve the mystery
