    "Love this series"
Would you consider the audio edition of Leaving Annalise to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version but I have to believe the accents is part of the charm.

What about Ashley Ulery’s performance did you like?

She is Katie - you believe it...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    yes

    "dissappointed"
What did you like best about Leaving Annalise? What did you like least?

I enjoyed the first book by the author with Katie and Annalise. This one had very little plot and what it had was so predictable that it was boring.

What could Pamela Fagan Hutchins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The romance aspect was overplayed in the book - if I wanted a Harlem Romance I would buy one. Focus more on creating an interesting mystery angle with a little more suspense. The characters also need to be more developed - they were very 2-dimensional in this book.

What didn’t you like about Ashley Ulery’s performance?

Where do I start? The pace was too slow to hold my attention. The fake accents were so bad it was a distraction. I was born and raised in Texas, and her southern accent was so exaggerated it was insulting. I don't know her background, but all LA actors seem to think Southerners have to sound stupid to be realistic. And throwing in the Caribbean lingo was so bad it was awful.

Could you see Leaving Annalise being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

maybe on Lifetime, otherwise not a chance

    "loved the story"
Would you listen to Leaving Annalise again? Why?

I really enjoyed the story and want to know what happens next!

Did Ashley Ulery do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I did not love the narration--the narrator voice was quite good, but the accents were not.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I kept wanting to go back to it!

"On and on and on... where is this going?"
What did you like best about Leaving Annalise? What did you like least?

Best: I loved the Annalise story line. There could have been much more of that.

Otherwise, for the majority of this book, I felt like I was listening to an audio version of This Old House. The story droned on and on, especially about some sort of water catchment thing. I couldn't figure out where it was going and had to stop the story several times because I was bored. Honestly, I wondered why countless chapters were included other than to increase the word count. Sure seemed like a lot of filler.

The narrator Ashley Ulery is pretty good, but she has a habit of inclining the pitch of her voice at the end of every sentence, similar to the way wet-behind-the-ear newscasters do. I couldn't help but laugh once in a while. I thought she was a bit mechanical at times, as if she were reading the news. Unfortunately, that took away from my experience for the first few chapters until I was able to get past that.

If you’ve listened to books by Pamela Fagan Hutchins before, how does this one compare?

    Same.

Did Ashley Ulery do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Ashley seems to think each and every island person has a monotone drawl. It was great that she attempted to differentiate Caucasians from islanders, but she could have added a little inflection, mon.

Could you see Leaving Annalise being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Maybe Volume 1, but this one needs to be refreshed first.
