Publisher's summary

New secrets, old flames, and hidden agendas are about to send bounty hunter Stephanie Plum on her most outrageous adventure yet!

MISTAKE #1
Dickie Orr
Stephanie was married to him for about fifteen minutes before she caught him cheating on her with her archnemesis, Joyce Barnhardt. Another fifteen minutes after that, Stephanie filed for divorce, hoping never to see either one of them again.

MISTAKE #2
Doing favors for super bounty hunter Carlos Manoso (aka Ranger)
Ranger needs Stephanie to meet with Dickie and find out if he's doing something shady. Turns out, he is. Turns out, Dickie's also back to doing Joyce Barnhardt. And it turns out Ranger's favors always come with a price. . . .

MISTAKE #3
Going completely nutso while doing the favor for Ranger, and trying to apply bodily injury to Dickie in front of the entire office
Now Dickie has disappeared, and Stephanie is the natural suspect in his disappearance. Is Dickie dead? Can he be found? And can Stephanie Plum stay one step ahead in this new, dangerous game? Joe Morelli, the hottest cop in Trenton, New Jersey, is also keeping Stephanie on her toes---and he may know more than he's saying about many things in Stephanie's life. It's a cat-and-mouse game for Stephanie Plum wherein the ultimate prize might be her life.

With Janet Evanovich's flair for hilarious situations, breathtaking action, and unforgettable characters, Lean Mean Thirteen shows why no one can beat Evanovich for blockbuster entertainment.

Better than the book

This story is one example of where hearing the story can be more entertaining than reading the story. The 13th in the Plum series, if you don't count the holiday editions, LMT doesn't answer all the questions from the 12th book and certainly leaves you wanting more. While the reader may be disappointed with being left hanging on some plot points, the author is definitely building the story. Can't wait to see where she takes it!

Always funny

I always end up enjoying the Stephanie Plum stories. 1-4 were the best, and Critt was definitely the best narrator. For me the constant "it's not my fault " can get a little old. The only other thing that bothers me is her relationship
with Ranger and Morelli. If she were a guy we would think he was a lying, cheating, jerk. As a woman, she just seems slutty and dishonest. I'm not really feeling her inner struggle. Not sure if I'll move on to number 14.

a delightful read

This was my first time reading a Stepanie Plum series book. I found it captivating and at times humorous. The combination styles between the author and narrator made for a great story. I will continue to purchase more in this series.

Never Disappointed

I feel like I'm reading about my best friends family, love life, and dysfunctional friends. Since I was a only child I would have loved to have a family similar to Stephanie's, not to mention the love interest. Big Fan. Constance
