Publisher's summary

Edgar Award nominee Robert Crais’ L.A. Requiem is a gritty, harrowing look into the minds of a serial killer and the men determined to stop him. Elvis Cole and former cop Joe Pike have been partners in a detective agency for 12 years. After an ex-girlfriend of Pike’s disappears, the girl’s father asks them to help the police with the search. When the missing persons case turns into a hunt for a killer who has been stalking victims in Los Angeles, Cole and Pike find themselves battling both a hostile police department and a madman. Ron McLarty’s masterful narration subtly builds a sense of Cole’s and Pike’s growing desperation to find some link between the victims as the body count continues to grow.

Crais Does Everything I like

This book swirls together so many detective ideas but even if the pieces are familiar this guy Crais uses them to make that swirl go faaast. This is my first Robert Crais. Yeah, the characters ain’t deep. But that plot… is wickedly twisty and those characters are built to whip around the turns. Really liked this. Elvis may have left the building but I’m looking forward to Ron McClarty bringing him back just as soon as I can buy the next in this series. Totally entertaining.

Fast-paced, action packed, very enjoyable.

Would you consider the audio edition of L.A. Requiem to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print edition, so I don't know.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, I was always looking forward to the next time I could listen to the book. The characters were engaging and I cared about what happened to them.

What about Ron McLarty’s performance did you like?

Mr. McLarty did a good job. I could easily distinguish which character was talking. He altered tone, pacing, and timbre to keep the story line going and the listening enjoyable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I don't know what a tag line is.

Great Detective Story

Robert Crais has become the greatest crime story of his generation. His snappy dialogue and exciting plot twists kept
me on the edge of seat, flipping page, anxious to learn what happens next.
I liked his book, “The Last Detective,” even better.

Enjoyed this book - I'll get more by Robert Crais

Solid detective//mystery book. I liked both the Joe Pike and Elvis Cole characters and will look for more in Audible sale offerings. My one criticism is how someone can get shot by a .45, center mass, twice, and walk away. That was a huge problem for me, but the overall book was very enjoyable.

Narrator Swallowing

Can constantly hear the narrator swallowing and swishing saliva around his mouth while reading. Hugely annoying.

Brilliant

Wonderful storytelling, beautiful character development, this is, in my opinion, the best in the series thus far. Now, on to the next.

Outstanding narration. Best Cole/Pike story yet.

Outstanding narration. There have been some weak narrations on some of Craiss’s books, but McLarty nailed it. Best Cole/Pike story yet. Creepy, evil bad guy in a twisted story. Enjoyed learning about Joe Pike’s past with LAPD.
