Another Great Ballad Novel

I loved this story. It was so well crafted and had characters who were easy to identify with. Sharyn McCrumb is a master of historical fiction based on real legends and stories.

Memorable tale about an important historic event

This is another story from Sharon McCrum. I have really liked all of her books ( except Bimbos of the Death Sun). She does a great job explaining the happenings on the ground & thoughts of the people in this moment of history..

A Very Good Read

I found this book when I was researching my family and discovered that my 5X Great Grandfather was Col. Frederick Hambright and fought on King's Mountain. He didn't come into the story until near the end, but the story was thought provoking and I felt very realistic for that time and location. I enjoyed it very much and will encourage other family members to read it.

Big Mistake

Wasted a credit on KING'S MOUNTAIN. Performance not like most of McCrumb's books. Totally disappointed.

The Story Telling is disjointed

What would have made King's Mountain better?

The characters could have been better connected. The relationships are incomplete. The reader is required to use their personal experiences to understand the interactions of the characters when Ms. MCrump could have supplied them.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator's voice was pleasant, cadence was appropriate and tone was consistent. He read what was presented, but it lacked the human details necessary to make characters come alive.

What character would you cut from King's Mountain?

I don't know. None of them were fleshed out enough for me to understand them.
