Enjoyed

After a long hiatus from the series this was a good read( listen) the narrator did a very good job looking forward to book 30

Not her best

I am always intrigued with the character development in this series, but this book certainly did not have the edge that she normally has. Eve is getting "soft"...and that's ok, i guess...The ending was also not her usualy twist until the end....still a good listen and entertaining...i found myself laughing out loud at times.

An enjoyable listen!!

Nora is one of the VERY best writers I've read, that said, this book wasn't the best, kinda more dark then I like, but, nevertheless, an enjoyable listen!! And as always, Susan's performance is excellant!! The love story between Eve & Roarke, good as always, but just a little too corny at the end, won't say more than that...but that's just my opinion. If you know these books, then you must read this one!! Someone new to Eve & Roarke living in the year 2060 should really start at the begininng. Just saying....

Another great book in one of my favorite series!

I love these books, but did find that this story line seemed more gruesome than most of the others. The detailed description of the first crime really turned my stomach and I nearly stopped listening. In fact, there were a couple of times when I just had to turn the book off. Fortunately the gruesome descriptions didn't continue in such detail as the book went on. I always enjoy listening to how Eve puts all the pieces together and catches the bad guy.

Story & Read did not disappoint

The story was very captivating and found myself teary-eyed several times; but wow, what a mind and imagination! I really enjoyed this series and so far, I have not been disappointed.

J.D.Robb cleverly keeps up the suspense.

After 29 books on the same theme, and roughly following the same format, J. D. Robb still cleverly keeps up the interest and suspense throughout this book. With it's technical banter which she makes either understandable or gives the reader permission to disregard (by being disregarded by the leading character) she gets across the importance of a phenomenally high technology in crime fighting. She uses subtle and tasteful humor, to develop characters and keep up readers interest. The extremely difficult background of the leading character Eve Dallas, deals with the current real life difficulties of many people who go through a negative foster care experience. Exposing the short falls of this very current issue (and several other socially important issues in other books) which need more airing as done in this series, she encourages more societal introspection into this aspects of our culture. She ably deals with the subject of sex both very distasteful,(as done by perpetrators) and tasteful leaving much to the imagination in more acceptable sexual acts, as performed by Eve Dallas and her Hunk, Oh I mean husband. Another theme, that of a very "Tom Boyish" woman working in a traditionally men's world is also well done and will appeal to many women's righters, as does Eve's sidekick Peabody who with her very feminine style also ably gives another face to this subject. With plenty of action, and intricate plot nuances, regular "who done it" fans are kept busy trying to keep up with or guess about the next move. All in all very entertaining and thought provoking.

SHOCK AND AWE

Would you listen to Kindred in Death again? Why?

This was the first of "In Death" stories I read. I was looking for something that was a little different from the ordinary. We were embarking on a long car trip and I get really board when I'm not driving. I was so engrossed in this story I had to finish listening to it that night. I tried a couple of other mysteries during our visit but it wasn't quite doing it for me. So I went back and started Kindred in Death the second time.

What other book might you compare Kindred in Death to and why?

I think Survivor in Death although quite a different storyline had a lot of the angst that made Kindred In Death so gripping.

Which scene was your favorite?

In Kindred in Death it was when they finally got the culpert in the box and explained his situation to him. Then the finally got "Daddy Dearest". Well Done! In Survivor in Death it was the perfect way to start the healing of a young girl without letting her forget the parents that loved her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can honestly say that in the last 20 or so books in the "In Death" series there was never a scene in any of the books that didn't move me.

Any additional comments?

I my humble opinion It would be so refreshing to have our prime time networks ditch the remakes of old, old shows (Hawaii Five 0 and Dallas etc) and have an IN Death series of their own with,god forbid, not changing one character or one line.

I'm not sure why this book got any negative reviews, I thought the story was great as usual. I'm glad I didn't let the bad comments keep me from reading on! I recommend it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I am making my way through this series and I liked the flow of this story!

emotional rollercoaster from rage to tears of joy

this is by far the most emotional book in the series and one of the best. JD Robb drags you to hell along with Eve and Roark to deal with what no person should ever have to deal with but yet she knows how to bring you back up to heaven in the end.
