Best so far!

I become more hooked on this collection with each book. In addition to the intrigue, adventure and unique perspective there is the insight into Walt’s love for his daughter. Great writing and superb narration.

Very Good!

I enjoyed the first two books of the series slightly more more but the narrator is fantastic. Every character is very well done. I have never downloaded the next book in a series right away, but am enjoying these so much I'm downloading the 4th book next.

Great....but....

Still loving this series. In part because of the characters. I'm one of those readers who wants to "like" the main characters. They don't have to be perfect... just good, decent people. So with this book, I just had a little "niggle" of dislike for Victoria. Her immaturity was a bit much. There was the tiniest, tiniest hint of it in the first two books, but this time her character kind of smacked of "soap opera".... which I absolutely CANNOT tolerate. Still giving this book 5 stars overall and for the performance. But the story slipped a bit for me because of Victoria. Obviously just my opinion. I'll still continue with the series and probably be able to overlook her immaturity (and hope that she gets over her "issues") because of the good story lines, the writing and the rest of the cast of characters.

Another great read

Not to be repetitive but as usual dialogue is exquisite. The descriptions of everything is highly visible and thought provoking. I am not normally someone that enjoys pages of descriptions and diversions from the subject. In these stories the descriptions of the thoughts, surroundings, interactions are intricate parts of the story.

There is one part of the books thus far that bother me greatly. It is always assumed that everyone is white and all of the non whites have to pointed out as if they are not normal people. A great deal of authors follow the track. I am not saying that there are not some occasions where whites heritages are not pointed out. Just that everyone else is referred to by nationality.

Kindness is great

The narrator is fantastic. The Native American story made it seem that this could be real. A spiritual journey for all of us.

So Good

Looked forward to each nights reading. Loved the pace of the narrator. The romance didn't quite fit.

Serious story with some humorous moments...

I chuckled out loud a couple times in the first few pages. That is an excellent omen.

Have to say though, I really dislike dream-sequence scenes. Dreams don't mean anything in real life, why would they mean anything in fiction? Fortunately there were only a couple of these.

The plot is a bit convoluted, but ultimately Johnson does explain it all out, so you are not left trying to figure out how A led to B. Since I don't try to figure out plots before they unfold, I am glad that it was all summarized for me.

I did read the earlier books in the series, but that was awhile ago so I forget the age difference between Walt and Vic...I think it is significant, and, as such, there is a thread of un-believability in this book. But anyway.

My only real complaint is actually the number of characters. I am okay with the regulars (we already met them in earlier books) but there are a couple different bad guys, and some other characters that play a role, and it was actually a little difficult to keep them all straight.

The narration is excellent. There is no gore or graphic sex or violence and I think there is only occasional swearing. I bought the rest in the series on Audible.
