Publisher's summary

The shocking techno-thriller that cements Daniel Suarez's status as the heir to Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy - a terrifying, breathtaking, and all-too-plausible vision of the world's near future.

Unmanned weaponized drones already exist: they're widely used by America in our war efforts in the Middle East. In Kill Decision, best-selling author Daniel Suarez takes that fact and the real science behind it one step further, with frightening results.

Linda McKinney is a myrmecologist, a scientist who studies the social structure of ants. Her academic career has left her entirely unprepared for the day her sophisticated research is conscripted by unknown forces to help run an unmanned - and thanks to her research, automated - drone army. Odin is the secretive Special Ops soldier with a unique insight into the faceless enemy who has begun to attack the American homeland with drones programmed to seek, identify, and execute targets without human intervention.

Together, McKinney and Odin must slow this advance long enough for the world to recognize its destructive power, because for thousands of years the "kill decision" during battle has remained in the hands of humans - and off-loading that responsibility to machines will bring unintended, possibly irreversible, consequences.

But as forces even McKinney and Odin don't understand begin to gather, and death rains down from above, it may already be too late to save humankind from destruction at the hands of our own technology.

Wow! Couldn't put it down!

This is the BEST techno-action novel I've ever put my hands on. The author has the technical knowledge of Robert Sawyer, and the action-suspense grasp of Clancy. He merges cutting edge military action with high-tech bad guys, tosses in some science, and the delivers it up in a masterpiece of literary fiction. I'll definitely read his next books. This guy just made it on to my favorite-authors list!

Great Performance, Good Science, Decent Story

Jeff Gurner delivers another outstanding performance. And the science is quite interesting. Not many techno-thrillers or Sci-Fi books deal with the behaviour of ants. And the role of the ravens was also interesting. As for the plot, it was bit frenetic -- not much time to take a breath. The characters were okay although they did not really come alive for me. The main character -- Odin -- seems to be a fairly typical invincible and loyal special ops military guy. Still, anyone looking for an action-packed techno-thriller with main characters you can actually like and root for will not be disappointed.

Eerily realistic and timely

This book is about as state of the art as it gets. It deftly winds its story around an issue we are all going to have to deal with in the near future: Autonomous drones. The story line moved at a fast pace and the narration was very good. Some of it was cookie-cutter action hero while other times surprisingly deep. Overall a very entertaining book that left you knowing a lot more about our current tech status than you might want to know.

Little Bit of a Letdown

The narration was fine. The premise was good but I thought the story was a little weak. Took a long time to ramp up and never reached it's full potential in my opinion.

Drones gone crazy

This was a very well written book. A rich set of characters to hook you in. I found it hard to stop listening with great narration and an easy voice to listen too. Most of the books ideas seem to be rooted in plausible science yet still somewhat science fiction like. A must read.

top quality sci-fi

This novel was lots of fun because it explores some interesting, and realistic, technology that could change the world over the next decade. Of course, the plot also has action and romance. Excellent.

Fascinating

Another awesome techno thriller from Daniel Suarez. Kill Decision is slathered with lots of techno babble, awesome weapons and incredibly creative and cool countermeasures. As a fan of techno thrillers I was in heaven! Kill Decision is one of those books that I can easily see myself coming back to and enjoying multiple times in the future.

Jeff Gurner was great once again. If you haven't already listened to Suarez's other two books do yourself a favor and download Daemon & Freedom today. You will enjoy Gurner's great narration in both books.

Very good!

I really enjoyed this book. The author goes a little overboard in some of his descriptions and explanations of how things work. But other then that this book was solid. Very good story line. Great characters and the narration was excellent as well. Highly recommended.
