Publisher's summary

The president's son and daughter are abducted, and Detective Alex Cross is one of the first on the scene. But someone very high-up is using the FBI, Secret Service, and CIA to keep him off the case and in the dark.

A deadly contagion in the water supply cripples half of the capital, and Alex discovers that someone may be about to unleash the most devastating attack the United States has ever experienced.

As his window for solving both crimes narrows, Alex makes a desperate decision that goes against everything he believes - one that may alter the fate of the entire country.

Kill Alex Cross is faster, more exciting, and more tightly wound than any Alex Cross thriller James Patterson has ever written!

Alex Cross is Back

James Patterson brought Alex back in all his past glory; a great mystery solver and not a political statement. Hooray for the resurrection.

Fantastic!!

Would you listen to Kill Alex Cross again? Why?

Maybe, I am actually not yet finished with the entire book yet but am really enjoying it and find it both fascinating and wonderfully acted as well. I may actually want to listen again, at some point.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alex Cross. He is presented wonderfully and is well portrayed by Andre Braugher

Have you listened to any of Andre Braugher and Zach Grenier ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but if there are others I would definitely be interested in hearing about them

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No laughing or crying, but the story itself does generate a reaction, given its topical nature and how it relates with how we, as Americans are thought of by some other cultures.

Lazy writing with autopilot plot

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

A dud in an otherwise solid series. Could not recommend.

What was most disappointing about James Patterson???s story?

Feels like the plot came from formula for Cross stories. Nothing new or clever - expected twists and characters to anyone who has read this series in the past. Almost felt like this had to get out for the holiday sales. Or maybe so Patterson could help promote Nook. Anyway. Skip it.

Great Book!

I hesitated to purchase the book because of the title. I didn't want Alex to be killed. I am very glad I ignore my first thought of the book. It was enjoyable and fast paced.

Might be my top fav AC story so far!

As a note I started AC from the beginning for the 1st time in late 2022. I’ve been reading them in order since.

This may be my favorite cross series story yet! Honestly I truly thought a few of the past ones were losing their marks but this one was outstanding.

I was at first a little confused about the double story lines, but it quickly ironed itself out. It isn’t apparent that they’re not all one cohesive story until later on but the stories after the first section have clearer paths. One additional note is that the missing kids storyline was buttoned up way better than the secondary storyline. I almost felt like it wasn’t helpful or hindered the overall story, but just that it didn’t have the same closure as the other. Additionally, I will say the ending for the overall story wasn’t the usual Cross way. Maybe JP was trying something new… it just seemed as though the normal Alex Cross story was missing.

Overall I enjoyed the narration, which was better than the last few I’ve heard by these narrators. The story was gripping & exciting. I couldn’t put it down! Seeing Alex, cross an actual line to save the kidnapped kids, wasn’t shocking just more so he actually did it this time around… for the right reasons obviously.

This book may just kill Alex Cross

I kept wondering if I was listening to an abridged version because the story was incredibly choppy. No story line (and there are several) was fully developed. I love the Alex Cross series, but this one reads like a first draft. Skip Kill Alex Cross; it doesn't advance the character at all.
