Kate is great!

Great story funny, fun, twists, overall great. I will want to keep reading this series to see what else Kate will be involved in. Caitlin Kelly was incredible. I really enjoyed her narration. I will be listening to more for sure read by Caitlin.

I love Caitlin in every performance...she is a great narrator!!

This would be a cute movie...hate this question though...stop asking audible! lol

Kate is a talented thief, and when a job goes wrong end up in a really crazy and dangerous situation..her apartment gets broken into, her dog gets dog-napped and she ends up wanted for questioning in a murder...she has to go on lamb! She digs in and starts investigating and uncovers a whole bunch of interesting things...and with some help from a few friends ends up clearing her name and getting her dog back!

I loved everything about the dynamics in this book. On the surface Kate is a jewel thief who has to use her wits to get her out of falsely being charged for a murder she didn't commit. But on a deeper level I saw she is also witty, strong, capable & kindhearted. Her career in jewelry thievery began out of a need for a deeper good. The more I learned about Kate the more I sympathized, and although I knew she was a jewel thief I glossed over that. It was a "non issue" very soon after I dove into the story.
The story itself has lots of action almost the whole way through. Kate's life gets turned upside down when her dog gets taken as ransom & she has to go on the run to not get caught. I enjoyed the relationship between her and "D" which felt very authentic and sweet. The narration was done so well, I really felt the different characters. They both came to life individually & the interactions had depth.
I hope there are more books in this series! A strong female lead with a twist makes this series special & I hope to see more. I was provided this as a gift in exchange for my honest review.

Fun, disastrous, and addictive

What was one of the most memorable moments of Kicks & Stones?

There was so many fun moments it's hard to pick just one. Probably when she has to break into her own apartment. I also love how she can mix the letters up in a word to come up with a new one.

OMG, I love listening to this narrator. She really brings her characters to life and she is just fun to listen to. Anytime I see a book with her as the narrator I'm interested. yes.I would recommend this audio book to a friend. Ithe was anot interesting story and storytelling.

The main character was my favorite, she was very original.

What made the experience of listening to Kicks & Stones the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed every minute of this audiobook.

It had non stop action, a strong capable heroine, a great mix of characters and lots of humor.

Who was your favorite character and why?

She is smart, capable, works to solve a mystery and get her dog back. And did I mention she is also a diamond thief ?


She meets different people during her investigation and finds herself in dangerous situation, but always knows how to handle herself. Her ability to adapt according to the situation.

What does Caitlin Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Caitlin Kelly is a great narrator.

She had to narrate a big cast and did it wonderfully. You got the feel of each individual character.

Caitlin's voice has a freshness and if full of enthusiasm that makes the listening experience extra entertaining.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Kicks & Stones is a very entreating book.

Karl fields wrote a smart book with a woman as the lead character. He wrote Kate in a believable, intelligent way.

Kate wasn't a caricature but a well thought out character, which added to make this a great read.

I 'm hooked!

As I hadn't yet read anything by Karl Fields I went into this book not knowing at all what to expect. I wss hooked immediately by the character, story, and narration - all extremely interesting, fun, and easy to listen to While Kicks & Stones didn't contain the laugh-out-loud hilarity I've grown to love in other cozy mysteries, I would still call this a "fun" listen, and I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. I would also like to award Mr. Fields some bonus points for writing such a clean book. As Kate notes in the book, many people become too reliant on four letter words - not the case here! Kudos for that, Mr. Fields! All-in-all, Kicks & Stones was a great find and I am now a fan.

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Kate Albertson Mystery series written by Karl Fields and narrated by Caitlin Kelly. This book can be listened to in one sitting if you have the time, once I started listening to it I didn’t want to put it down until the end. The narrator Caitlin Kelly did a great job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

Kate is great!

I very much enjoyed listening to this audiobook, which was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. Kate is an interesting main character and I especially love her love for the English language and grammar. She is smart, funny and cheeky and still gets herself in messes.
The narrator was fabulous - perfect voice for Kate. I look very forward to more in this series!

Fun Mystery with twists!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Sure. This isn't your ordinary mystery. The jewel thief is trying to do good, but keeps getting set back and set up. The author does a great job interweaving the various plot lines without losing the listener/reader.

What other book might you compare Kicks & Stones to and why?

Similar feel to the Cantrell and Black mysteries, but in Kicks and Stones it's the thief who's trying to clear her name.

What does Caitlin Kelly bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love the lightness of her storytelling. Perfect amount of snark and spunk for Kate (the leading lady). Nice variety of voices for the various male/female characters.
