Publisher's summary

Only hours after Holmes and Russell return from solving one murky riddle on the moor, another knocks on their front door...literally. It's a mystery that begins during the Great War, when Gabriel Hughenfort died amidst scandalous rumors that have haunted the family ever since. But it's not until Holmes and Russell arrive at Justice Hall, a home of unearthly perfection set in a garden modeled on Paradise, that they fully understand the irony echoed in the family motto, Justicia fortitudo mea est.

A trail of ominous clues comprise a mystery that leads from an English hamlet to the city of Paris to the wild prairie of the New World. The trap is set, the game is afoot; but can Holmes and Russell catch an elusive killer, or has the murderer caught them?

Laurie King has done it again! In this story we meet new people and bring back old friends.Holmes is as sly as ever and Mikroft is intertwined throughout.Jenny Sterlin has done an excellant job,as always, with narrating. You should listen to "The Moor" before "Justice Hall".Highly recommend!

Loved this book!

The characters are richly drawn and I love all the details. Some listeners my not like quite so much background and setting information, but it intrigues me. Will start the next in the series immediately. Should read them in order.

Yes, Justice!

First, You cannot read a better set of books then these!
There is no doubt in my mind when one comes out I will get it.
Second, This reader was meant to read these books. She is utterly fantastic, with voices perfectly right for the characters.
Third, Read them IN Order. You won't be disappointed and they follow a growth and development of the stories.

A Great Listen!

The stories are always interesting and the background information thorough. England's past, presented in the future, is fascinating.

Good read

Another good story. Characters were more interesting here than in oh Jerusalem. Narrator does a fine job - perhaps with the exception of any form of North American accent! But hardly a deterrent as a listener.

Do Get this one!

Excellently written, excellently read. Darker, perhaps, than others of the Mary Russell stories (why doesn't Audible have more Laurie King?).

Two-time listen

I love Laurie King's Mary Russel series and this book is no exception. This book is beautifully narrated, well written, and fits in well with Doyle's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. I'm a huge fan!

Compelling, intricate, dynamic and engaging

What did you love best about Justice Hall?

This is my favorite book in the series, so far. The depth of the plot, the twists and turns, the characters you can't help but feel are your own friends. Truly an exciting story. Recommended for a long drive, because you won't want to stop listening.

What other book might you compare Justice Hall to and why?

For its rich historical context, I might compare it to a Ken Follett novel.

What does Jenny Sterlin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A purposeful delivery: when I read I tend to read too fast, and I miss out on the emotion behind the dialogue.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes--SPOILER ALERT--when Gabriel's true parentage was revealed, I was reminded of the soul crushing decisions people in my life have had to make.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend this book to lovers of history, lovers of suspense, and people who like good books.
