Publisher's summary

Craig Johnson’s rough-and-tumble hero Walt Longmire is quickly becoming a fan-favorite and a critical success.

Here Walt has his hands full as greedy land developers employ shady, violent methods to reverse their fortunes in recession-racked Wyoming, where the owners of a multi-million dollar development of ranchettes want to get rid of the adjacent junk-yard. When a severed thumb is discovered in the yard, conflicts erupt, and Walt Longmire, his trusty companion Dog, life-long friend Henry Standing Bear, and deputies Santiago Saizarbitoria and Victoria Moretti find themselves in a small town that feels more and more like a high plains pressure cooker.

“It’s the scenery—and the big guy standing in front of the scenery—that keeps us coming back to [these] lean and leathery mysteries.” ( New York Times Book Review)

favorite narrator in whole wide world.

I wish George guidall was my Granddad. He could read the ingredients on the back of a bag of funyuns and I would buy it and listen. Also good book there Mr Craig. Love the Walt longmire series.

Another awesome story

Another awesome installment of Graig Johnson’s Longmire!! I watched the tv series before listening to any of the books and the show left me wanting more.So glad there are the books to turn to! George Guidall does an amazing job bringing the characters to life! I really hope they decide to bring the show back also with Cady as sheriff that would be great!

Comfortable and enjoyable

I love the Longmire books, they’re like a cross between the Andy Griffith Show and Homicide: Life On The Streets. This one lets some of the supporting characters shine a little more, and has some really creative twists in the plot. Just a real enjoyable listen, with the typically spectacular narration provided by George Guidall. For my money he’s the best in the business.

Continues a tradition of excellence

A completely engaging tale with wonderfully drawn characters and unpredictable, yet totally human, flaws that lead to the most unexpected twists and turns. I love this series and this reader - George Guidall totally captures the essence of Sheriff Longmire, Mr. Henry Standing Bear, and the incorrigible Vic Moretti, as well as that of Wyoming itself. Makes me want to return to the state of my birth.

Tough as Nails Doesn't Begin to Explain It

This is the sixth Walt Longmire mystery I've read in this series. What makes it stand out to me, even as compared to the others that I have really enjoyed, is the supporting cast, especially Geo Stewart. He is beyond tough-as-nails, and some of predicaments that he and his family find themselves in are just plain entertaining. The original cast of characters that repeat from book to book don't disappoint, either -- they meld nicely with the motley crew they encounter.

This goes beyond being just a series of mysteries. It's the ongoing story of a small town with extremely endearing residents. The narrator adds a beautiful finishing touch to create real listening pleasure!

Fabulous series!

I love how smart the Walt Longmire books are. They are extremely well written with sly humor and interesting characters. I'm rereading the whole series right now and enjoying it all again.
