Editorial reviews

Editors Select, June 2014 - In typical James Patterson fashion, Invisible was suspenseful, fast-paced, and filled with twists and turns. The story follows Emmy Dockery, a brash and outspoken FBI analyst who is convinced that a string of supposedly accidental deaths is actually the work of one unknown serial killer. Dismissed by both her family and the Bureau, Emmy must find the link between these closed cases before more lives are claimed. Patterson and Ellis did a spectacular job with both character development and plotline. There was never a dull moment as the story built up to its twisted and surprising climax. I couldn’t put this book down – and with January LaVoy as the female narrator, I can’t wait to revisit this story in audio. –Laura, Audible Editor

Publisher's summary

Everyone thinks Emmy Dockery is crazy. Obsessed with finding the link between hundreds of unsolved cases, Emmy has taken leave from her job as an FBI researcher. Now all she has are the newspaper clippings that wallpaper her bedroom, and her recurring nightmares of an all-consuming fire.

Not even Emmy's ex-boyfriend, field agent Harrison "Books" Bookman, will believe her that hundreds of kidnappings, rapes, and murders are all connected. That is, until Emmy finds a piece of evidence he can't afford to ignore. More murders are reported by the day—and they're all inexplicable. No motives, no murder weapons, no suspects. Could one person really be responsible for these unthinkable crimes?

Invisible is James Patterson's scariest, most chilling stand-alone thriller yet.

Patterson's Best Yet.

here lately I have been struggling to really enjoy any of James Patterson's books until this one. I am hooked the main character isn't all cocky and perfect like most of his characters in this books. also love that you see from the killer's point of view, a must read even if you're not a big Patterson fan.

Good story.... Unlikeable protagonist

Great audiobook and liked the both the narrators but the main character, Emmy, is over emotional and at some points just down right annoying. Overall I enjoyed it though.

Narration on Fire!

The narration of the story by both performers is what made this a great listen. The story was good but did drag along in some areas.

A good, highly theatrical read.

I like James Patterson etal stories. They are usually well researched and complex stories. This one did not disappoint. Also, as usual, the ending was anticlimactic and slow.

A bit of a creepy read

I like this author and enjoyed the flow of this book. I didn't guess the ending, which I do at times, which was nice. the book was a bit creepy... the killer's narrative voice was well chosen and the depths of darkness the character goes to is unfortunately possible in today's society. I would not read it again. it may be a little too creepy and dark for some.
