Excellent continuation in this series.

Enjoyed this book. Can hardly wait to read book 4.
I really liked the way the author portrayed the justice system at the end of the book.

Great Book!

As usual, this Joe Dillard story is packed full of excitement. and I learn something new everytime I read one. The descriptions of the countryside makes me want to go there so bad.
Joe Dillard is a refreshing character. He is mostly as honest as they come, but there's that little grey area and I mean real little. I hope that one of Mr. Pratt's children can continue their Dad's legacy. If not, I will be sad to say goodbye to the last in the series. Until then I plan on listening to the rest of them real slow. I also need to put in a good word for the narrator for the Joe Dillard series. He has a real nice voice.

Easy to listen to.

I'm normally a John Grisham fan but decided to try Scott Pratt and I enjoy him just as much. I love this character Joe Dillard and cannot wait to move on to book number 4.

Justice is slow, but steady

Great storyline, it kept me glued to it as I listened, I can't for the next one, as I'm reading 😀 😄 I'm looking forward to the next book

A Hanging Tree and A Missing Woman

This story is very interesting and it captivated my attention from the word go! This is the second novel in the Joe Dillard series that I have listened to. This one and Blood Money which is really good too. I also enjoyed Justice Redeemed (not in the Joe Dillard series) immensely.

The Publisher's Summary is a good description of this story. A suicide takes place in a Judge Green's court room, the next day Judge Green is found hanging from a tree. Are the two events related? Is this a revenge killing/hanging? Well, revenge seems like the most likely possibility because the Judge had an threatening and menacing reputation in the court room. Lots of folks didn't like the judge.

There are two mysteries bundled up nicely in this suspenseful and mysterious novel. In addition to the murder mystery, a young woman, an employee of the district attorney's office, has disappeared. Are the two incidents connected? That's the fun and interesting aspect of this novel.... peeling back each layer of the mystery to find out whodunit!

The narrator does a good job, not the best but good enough.

Recommend.

The Best so Far

Has someone thought of making these stories into a television serial? I don't think that I can mention the name of the series but it focuses on an East coast police chief transplanted there from California due to being terminated from his law enforcement job there due to alcoholism. Similar to the before referenced series, a new Joe Dillard series can be broadcast periodically, not every week or monthly. This 3rd book is fantastic. The murders, while sad and tragic, avoid extreme torture and mutalization. The characters are realistic with probable conflicts. The bad guys get what is coming to them and good eventually triumphs for the most part. Interesting diversity of characters that are present in this story unlike the others. Tim Campbell is an exceptional narrator. The listener becomes comfortable because Tim seems comfortable with his material. Again the reading is balanced and not over dramatic. Tim is a reader and not an actor so I don't mind his interpretation of female voices. I like this series and hope that books 6, 7, and 8 are written and will soon be available to us.

Justice for all

I really enjoyed this book. Like the others in the Joe Dillard series it was a good story and easy to follow. I still don't like the fe!ale narration - too masculine and labored.
