Publisher's summary

#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings.

“One hell of a good read.... As close as a book can come to a summertime cinematic blockbuster.” —
USA Today

“A diverting thriller.” —
Entertainment Weekly

With a relentless female assassin trailing them through Florence, he and his resourceful doctor, Sienna Brooks, are forced to flee.

Embarking on a harrowing journey, they must unravel a series of codes, which are the work of a brilliant scientist whose obsession with the end of the world is matched only by his passion for one of the most influential masterpieces ever written, Dante Alighieri's The Inferno.

Dan Brown has raised the bar yet again, combining classical Italian art, history, and literature with cutting-edge science in this captivating thriller.

Classic Dan Brown; Good narrator

Classic Dan Brown novel. Tracks similar blueprints to Angels & Demons, Da Vinci Code, and The Lost Symbol. That said, I still did not see certain parts coming so while I understand what a novel containing Robert Langdon will entail, I still was engaged. Narrator does a good job bringing it to life, but there is so much detail to his novels I feel that it can be tricky to grasp subtle details when listening to the audio.

His stories are getting predictable-still good tho

Any additional comments?

This was a very pleasant contrast to some heavier reads. I can kind-of see the plot twists coming now, but I gotta say it was still enjoyable!

Good, but not his best book

I started with DaVinci Code and loved it. After, I went back to his earlier works and enjoyed them, but could definitely tell that his writing, plot development and characters had come a long way. When starting this book, I would have assumed that Inferno would have shown the same evolution, but I thought it was a step back from the quality of his previous book.

With that said, I did enjoy it and thought it was worth the read (or listen).

Not Dan Brown's best

I enjoyed the book, but was not thrilled with the ending.
It lacked the real compelling ending that I have enjoyed in his previous books.

17 chapters in, character still basically sitting

17 chapters in, character still basically sitting around confused. Really? Pacing is weird and draining.

Average thriller with "who-done-it"

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This book is an average thriller sprinkled with "who-done-it" and "look over here too get another clue". Main character development is insufficient so the readers will not have any emotional connection thus, the story line seems like a typical find clue, decode clue, leading to a real climatic ending, which never really surfaces in inferno. At the end it’s just bit to verbose on the monolithic descriptions and very light on the characters sub-plot and development. Still is a good listen/read and I give is a “C” to a C+.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

the WHO (world health organization) lack of political power

What does Paul Michael bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

his Tone and tempo

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

NO!!!

Any additional comments?

it will be a long time before I read another Dan Brown book.

Dan Brown Still Writing in Code

What did you love best about Inferno?

I liked the location and the movement of the characters to find the answers.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Inferno?

When Langdon finds out why he had amnesia.

Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?

Robert Langdon.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Well, the story didn't work for me. I liked Dan Brown's other books but this one seemed a bit far fetched. He always seems to have a hidden moral issue but I keep buying his books so something is working for him.

GREAT ADDITION TO THE DAN BROWN COLLECTION!

Would you listen to Inferno again? Why?

I thought the book was great! You know what you are in for with Dan Brown and he doesn't disappoint. Well written and narrated. This book is very similar to his others in plot and character development so if you aren't interested in learning about Florence, Dante or biology it may seem like the same old story to you.
