Publisher's summary

#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings.

“One hell of a good read.... As close as a book can come to a summertime cinematic blockbuster.” —
USA Today

“A diverting thriller.” —
Entertainment Weekly

With a relentless female assassin trailing them through Florence, he and his resourceful doctor, Sienna Brooks, are forced to flee.

Embarking on a harrowing journey, they must unravel a series of codes, which are the work of a brilliant scientist whose obsession with the end of the world is matched only by his passion for one of the most influential masterpieces ever written, Dante Alighieri's The Inferno.

Dan Brown has raised the bar yet again, combining classical Italian art, history, and literature with cutting-edge science in this captivating thriller.

I'm out of breath......and I want a drink

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd recommend it simply because it's a typical Dan Brown "follow the clues left in all these historical places" thrill ride. A good read, but not fantastic. I'm ready for fantastic. I don't believe this was Mr. Brown's best effort. If you haven't read this book yet, don't read my comment any further...........just read the book and see for yourself.

The chase scenes were a bit extensive and really disappointing after finding out that the enemy wasn't really the enemy at all........like, what the hell, and the bad guy wasn't bad after all........are these all considered 'twists' or has Langdon's amnesia saved his butt on that one? Enlightening information about Venice, but almost too much. If I ever get to Venice, I will reread this book for the 'hot spots' to visit.I would enjoy seeing Langdon and the young woman hook up in a future book. Their "possible" chemistry and energy together could be just too good to pass up.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dante........he was what this book was about. Lots of info and background. Very interesting.

Which character – as performed by Paul Michael – was your favorite?

He does a fine job of reading and portraying the individual characters.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Bring running shoes and a bottle of water............and wear a good deodorant

Any additional comments?

Definitely all the characteristics of a Dan Brown/Langdon novel. Can't say I'm really disappointed but not as good a book as I had hoped it would be.

Totally expected and unexpected.

Once again, Dan Brown has inextricably weaved a tale of history with suspense in a factual and thought provoking tale.

It's a Dan Brown book- it's good

Where does Inferno rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Inferno is a good book and another Robert Langdon story- not the best one I have read/heard, but a good one.

Any additional comments?

Robert Langdon needs to retire and go to florida- he's had a rough go.

Not up to Dan Brown's usual standard

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, it was depressing and not that interesting. Very little symbology and a lot of philosophy.

Has Inferno turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I love this kind of genre. I devoured the other titles from Dan Brown. The DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons were terrific!

Was Inferno worth the listening time?

No, it was slow moving and really "preachy".

Now I have to go to Italy and get a dictionary

Following in the pace of his previous books of Robert Langdon, he is this time thrust into italian verbiage with overly descriptive views of the beauty of Florence and its treasures... Italy- !
Dante! the places described so sadly splendid that I ached to see what he spoke of in those moments.
i hope when the movie comes out in Dec. that we get to go to Florence and see all the wonderful things listeners and readers have to try and picture...sadly, all the science in the book, as the author mentioned in the preface is true. I learned a lot and I will look up pictures of all the glorious places in Italy and Istanbul.

Oh Dan...

Finally a Dan Brown without a strangely placed sex scene. Great read especially if you are familiar with The Inferno.

Disappointed

Anytime that a Dan Brown novel is released I get excited. Especially when Robert Langdon is the main character. I was disappointed by Inferno however. The storyline took too long to develop and with all of the twists and turns the story took, I expected a tremendous ending. Instead I was left wanting, very anticlimactic.

Hopefully his next story is more along the lines of His previous works featuring Langdon. I'll still read and listen.
