Publisher's summary

#1 WORLDWIDE BESTSELLER • Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings.

“One hell of a good read.... As close as a book can come to a summertime cinematic blockbuster.” —
USA Today

“A diverting thriller.” —
Entertainment Weekly

With a relentless female assassin trailing them through Florence, he and his resourceful doctor, Sienna Brooks, are forced to flee.

Embarking on a harrowing journey, they must unravel a series of codes, which are the work of a brilliant scientist whose obsession with the end of the world is matched only by his passion for one of the most influential masterpieces ever written, Dante Alighieri's The Inferno.

Dan Brown has raised the bar yet again, combining classical Italian art, history, and literature with cutting-edge science in this captivating thriller.

Good book. Not my favorite.

Im a big fan of the Robert Langdon series. This one is great and all I just found it a little harder to follow with all the amnesia in 2/3 of the story. I wasnt captivated immediately like the first 3 books grabbed me. However, still a very unique and good story. Not disappointed by my purchase.

Aaaaarrrrggghhhh!

What did you like best about Inferno? What did you like least?

Dan Brown seems to do good research on history and art, and he puts together interesting plots; but when will he learn how to write? I wish I had counted every time he used "sense" instead of "thought," "realized," "understood," "felt," or any of a dozen other more appropriate words. He did actually use the word correctly once near the end of the book, but by that time it had been so overworked it didn't have any impact.

To give the guy credit, he did use the word "iconology" a couple of times. He is probably kicking himself that he didn't know that one when he wrote "The Da Vinci Code."

What could Dan Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Instead of throwing out a number--this character has an IQ of 208--he could write her smarter. She could do more than parrot whatever Bob says.

Have you listened to any of Paul Michael’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Fine.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably.

Any additional comments?

Somebody remind me to get the abridged version of Mr. Brown's next book. That should give me at least 50% fewer incorrect uses of "sense."

A Good Langdon Sequel

If you have enjoyed the Langdon series so far this is a nice addition to the series. It does not have the enjoyment or thrill of the first two but I think this was because while the story is good, the template has become a bit too similar.

The history and lore of Dante is rich and deep and as usual with a Langdon series book I found myself stopping and firing up Google to learn more about what I just read. For me this is part of the enjoyment of why I like the Langdon series and for me is a good template. While some fiction and interpretation is always present there is enough factual information weaved into the story to make things enjoyable.
