Publisher's summary

When a murder disrupts the Irish vacation she is taking with her husband, Roarke, Eve realizes that no place is safe - not an Irish wood or the streets of the manic city she calls home. But nothing prepares her for what she discovers upon her return to the cop shop in New York City....

A driver for a top-of-the-line limousine service is found dead - shot through the neck with a crossbow. The car was booked by an executive at a venerable security company whose identity had been stolen. Days later, a stunning, high-priced escort is found killed at Coney Island, a bayonet stuck in her heart. And again, the trail leads to a CEO whose information has been hijacked.

With a method established, but no motive to be found, Eve begins to fear that she has come across that most dangerous of criminals, a thrill killer, but one with a taste for the finer things in life - and death. Eve does not know where or when the next kill will be, or that her investigation will take her to the rarefied circle that Roarke travels in - and into the perverted heart of madness....

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Entitled

What did you love best about Indulgence in Death?

The love, support, and respect Roark and Eve have for each other and their professions.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I did not know how Eve was going to be able to bring the criminals to justice.

Which scene was your favorite?

The Conference Room. Eve was briefed her Team on the evidence that she and Peabody had collected.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh. Eve just cannot seem to get the expressions correct. I love her relationship with her friends.

Any additional comments?

Eve learns what it means to be a friend. She analyzes her relationship with each of her friends and compares their relationship with this case. Eve finds that her friends love and respect her and value their relationship.

Good story, great Eve/Roarke relationship

Although there is some similarity to an earlier story, Indulgence stands well on its own because it takes a different approach. It's a procedural--you watch Eve and her team build the case a little at a time.

There's more of the laugh-out-loud dialog and snide comments (which I love) than there have been in the previous two books. If you're a fan of the Eve/Roarke relationship parts, you'll particularly enjoy the first three chapters (and probably the last few as well).

Susan Ericksen does an amazing job as always, really bringing the characters to life.

Another great "In Death" entry. Keep them coming, J.D.!

Wonderful addition to series

Really enjoyed the team work of Roarke and Eve. Has some similarities to other stories but shows the innate cruelty of people with much more money than conscience and utter disdain of people and fellow human beings. Excellent ending. Really enjoying the development of Eve and Roarkes marriage and team work.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

I absolutely enjoyed this book as I have enjoyed all of the J. D. Robb novels centered around the "In Death" series. One great pleasure has been to watch the characters evolve and mesh; to see relationships build and strengthen. The characters seem more developed with each novel and Ms Ericksen is simply outstanding as the narrator. How she manages to be on target with the numerous voice changes is a wonder in itself. Her narration is one of the reasons I listen to certain parts again and again even after completing the story.

Eve Dallas, the main character, is just as intense as she was in the beginning, but has learned to relax and to trust those around her in her daily sphere. She is a tough, smart New York police lieutenant who has a mind that can dissect and analyze with the best of them - Nero Wolfe, Ellery Queen - those fascinating detectives we enjoy so much. She is fearless! In this story, her attempts to throw in well known phrases to describe a circumstance (i.e., "the icing on the cupcake" instead of just "the icing on the cake," and "leaving a trail of cookie crumbs" instead of a "trail of bread crumbs," tend to make her even more human considering her terrible childhood which had no fairy tales or bedtime stories or love; only pain, fear and terror.

This story line is exciting and fast-paced. It was woven so that the listener's interest remains spiked. Again, the narration puts this listen over the top.

Great Stuff!

This storyline is fabulous I just wish that Eve was not so rude, I know her character is a strong formidable woman but the way she is portrayed is a little over the top. The way in which she speaks to some people is annoying. Overall though I just love the books very well written with lots of twists. I love all the characters- thank you- Sharyn Campbell

I love these stories

What made the experience of listening to Indulgence in Death the most enjoyable?

My husband and I both love this series - so much so that we are making ourselves listen to other things to prolong the experience as we get closer to caught up!! The stories are intriguing and keep you listening. The time on long car trips just zooms by. Susan Ericksen really brings them to life. This is one instance where listening is far better than reading a printed book.

What did you like best about this story?

Continuation of the ongoing 'In Death' theme.

Which character ??? as performed by Susan Ericksen ??? was your favorite?

Susan Ericksen brings all of the main characters to life. She does an amazing job of differentiating them. I particularly like her Peabody.

Any additional comments?

If you haven't read an 'In death' book before - start from the beginning!

Great story and excellent narration

I completely enjoyed this Audible book by JD Robb! As all the other books in the In Death series it had great characterization, interesting and complex story line and a delightful narration!
I will continue with Audible for this author as I loved hearing the story while I was diving and working around the house! Bravo to Susan Erickson as I now hear these characters voices and inflection in my head while reading a paper book in the series!

More!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Lt. Dallas is tough, savvy, and a "cop's cop" Good detective work, believable.

What other book might you compare Indulgence in Death to and why?

Being that this one is in the future I can't compare. I typically don't read sci fi or futuristic stories but this was believable.

Which scene was your favorite?

In the shoe store with her partner, who's literally drooling over the high priced shoes. Their interaction is hilarious.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a few times.

Any additional comments?

Good enough that I downloaded two more of Robb's works.
