In a Dark House | [Deborah Crombie]

In a Dark House

A house of secrets. A child in danger. And the clock ticking... A corpse, burned beyond recognition, has been uncovered in a vacant warehouse in Southwark. At the same time, a young, beautiful hospital administrator has vanished without a trace. And across the city, within an old, dark, rambling house, a rigidly controlling, anonymous woman is holding ten-year-old Harriet hostage. As innocent lives hang in the balance and sinister truths unfurl, DS Duncan Kincaid and DI Gemma James must work together on their most menacing case yet.

"Another great listen from Deborah Crombie."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to everyone who loves cime stories. The characters and their lives continue to be developed alongside the excellent story - each enhancing the other. It is eminently "readable" over and over again.

What did you like best about this story?

The story is fully rounded, giving a twisting story which keeps changing direction so that the "answer" is obvious from the beginning and the way the writer makes the characters appear and act sways the listeners' opinion quite dramatically. Very affective. The story lines in themselves are excellent too. Very well worth listening to. I can't wait to get my next Deborah Crombie book downloaded!

Have you listened to any of Jenny Sterlin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to a few Deborah Crombie books, all narated by Jenny Sterlin and have found her performance very balanced. Her english is good and she doesn't try to put too much emphasis on anything thereby ruining the story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, but I don't want to give it away - not fair to those who haven't read it yet!!

    Any additional comments?

Give it a go - it is well worth your time ...
