Publisher's summary

Summer, 2059. A man wearing a cape and a top hat approaches a prostitute on a dark, New York City street. Minutes later, the woman is dead. Left at the scene is a letter addressed to Lieutenant Eve Dallas, inviting her to play his game and unveil his identity. He signs it, "Jack."

Now Dallas is in pursuit of a murderer who knows as much about the history of serial killers as she does. He has studied the most notorious and the most vicious slayings in modern times. But he also wants to make his own mark. And he has chosen his victim: Eve Dallas. And all Eve knows is that he plans to mimic the most infamous murderers of all - starting with Jack the Ripper.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

I LOVE this series….

Nora Roberts has always be a favorite and I love the In Death books. I started reread
from the beginning once I realized I missed a few in the series. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOY it is to listen on audible. Every book makes me cry a little, laugh and look for Roarke on the street. WHY HASN’T THIS BEEN MADE INTO A MOVIE!!?! Great narration. On to the next book.

Book 17 of the Best Series Ever!

The 'In Death' series, written by J.D. Robb & narrated by Susan Ericksen, is a futuristic suspense series. The story is set in mid-21st-century New York City & it centers around Lieutenant Eve Dallas & her billionaire husband, Roarke.

My husband & I both love all of the J.D. Robb, 'In Death' series. We first began listening to them when they were on CDs. We've listened to the entire series, in order, three times so far! If we're driving somewhere, you can be sure Eve, Roarke, Peabody, McNab, Capt. Feeney, Mavis, Dr. Mira, Nadine, Summerset & the rest of the gang are in the truck with us. We love all of the major characters & look forward, with anticipation, to the new audiobooks that come out in February & September every year!

If you're looking for an awesome mystery series, a little romance with a bit of the futuristic thrown in, then you'll love this series! Believe me, you just can't go wrong, but be warned... once you get started, you'll be hooked!

Great!

This is one of my top ten In Death favorites. The procedural is intriguing. The Eve and Roarke is continuing to develop. Their scenes are always emotional, sometimes loving, sometimes funny but always worth the price of the book.

Robb has some of the best supporting characters. They add so much to the story.

Susan Ericksen is one of the top narrators. Listening to her tell the story always puts me right in the middle of the action.

What do killers have for breafast?

Serial, of course.

It is said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but there is nothing flattering about Eve's latest case: a killer mimicking history's most notorious serial killers.
Bonus track: does Peabody make it through the Detective Exam? Will Eve survive Peabody making it to the exam?

Go Peabody!

I do enjoy these stories. The dynamics between the main characters are amazing. I love the interplay between Dallas and Peabody. So much fun. And well, Roarke . . . Enough said. Oh yes, there is a good murder mystery too. I love how Dallas pretty much knows from the beginning who done it, but does the work and builds the case, taking us along with her. What a ride.

serial copy cat

I really enjoyed this book, like the rest of the series. This book deals in a copycat serial killer that is mimicking high profile past killers. He brings Dallas in as a challenge to try to catch him. Its an interesting ride. Especially with all of the high profile suspects.
Susan Erickson as always makes this such a good listen. I love her portrayal Roarke and the rest of the crew.

SPOILER

Peabody gets her detective badge in this one!
