    "Engrossing"

This really kept me on the edge of my [car] seat. Well-told story, well-narrated, good suspense, vivid descriptions. I had no problem visualizing the setting and the characters. Got a little over the top at the end, but overall a very enjoyable listening experience.

    "bland"

absolutely the worst koontz so far, nothing to add to the previous reviewer. get "the face" which takes some time to get into, but is well worth it. actually, I have listened to 60 percent of the audiobooks by koontz here and read another 5 or so books by him, they are all decent. "life expectancy" is also not bad at all. obviously, this is a koontz-fan writing, but this one was written more than 10 years ago and is very weak.

    "Not a Typical Koontz"

Icebound was a nice departure from the typical paranormal or extraterrestrial story lines. I enjoyed the deviation. Of course, I love all of Dean's books, so I'm a bit biased.

    "Starts out slow"

I felt Koontz attention to detail was a bit overboard in the beginning of the book. I kept waiting for the information to tie back into the story but it really never did. For me the book started out slow but picked up speed and I actually started to enjoy it. For anyone finding the same I would suggest sticking with it or just skip ahead to where they are stranded on the iceberg.

    "exactly what I expected"

I have been avoiding this Dean Koontz book for years, I have a paperback copy but could never finish it. Typically I am a dean Koontz fan, but this book is dry the story is not very intresting. The only time it got interesting was the last 30 minutes or so.

    "Not worth the time"

Listening to this book didn't surprise me, nor inspired me, nor touched me much at all. The characters' personalities are as predictable and flat as the story itself; all is as simple as it gets for this Arctic "adventure".

    "Koontz really surprised me!"

This is a real Techno thriller. No ghosts or monsters.
    Just nonstop action and suspense.
He's right up there with Clancy and Childs.
    Maybe Better.

    "Icebound"

This was an ok book but it started out quite boring. Even thou at the beginning of the book it fast forwarded itself thru a lot facts and data, more could have been left out. This is not the best Dean Koontz book that I have read. It left a whole lot to be desired. There was just too much flashback of each and every character especially toward the end of the book which prolonged the ending by more painful and angonizing minutes. I had to fast forward a lot at the end because of endless flashbacks. But once at the end I was still let down. It could have been better. I give 3 stars for good effort.
