Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best selling author Nora Roberts weaves a spellbinding story of seduction and suspense, white-hot passion and cold-blooded murder in this first-ever hardcover edition of her classic novel...Hot Ice

Rich, gorgeous Whitney MacAllister likes fast cars, vintage movies, and dangerous men. But even this jaded, high-living Manhattan socialite is taken by surprise when a stranger in black leather hijacks her Mercedes - just before the bullets start flying. International jewel thief Douglas Lord is used to living life on the run - part of the lure of his chosen profession is the thrill of the chase. But he has one iron-clad rule: he always works alone. Until now.

Wounded and in desperate need of cash for what could be the glittering crown of his dazzling career, Doug reluctantly accepts the wealthy, well-connected Whitney as his new partner in crime. With the papers screaming headlines about the missing New York heiress, and a gang of cunning criminals in hot pursuit, Doug and Whitney take off for the sultry wilds of Madagascar in search of a fabulous treasure dating back to the French Revolution.

For Whitney, what began as a high-speed adventure becomes a race between life and death as she tries to outmaneuver a pack of merciless killers who coolly eliminate anyone in their way. For Doug, who has been betrayed one time too many, it’s a chance to capture the elusive pot of gold and perhaps one final shot at redemption. For both of them, it’s an exotic quest for meaning - and a surrender to an irresistible passion worth any risk - as a deadly high-stakes game is played out to its terrifying conclusion, one that may have no winners or losers. Or survivors. With Hot Ice Nora Roberts reveals once again why she is the reigning master of sensually charged intrigue and high-voltage suspense.

So funny...

This book saved my sister and I on a car trip from San Jose, CA to Nowhere, TX. We were laughing out loud at the dialogue between Whitney and Doug. The reader did Doug horribly, totally unsexy, but the book was good and you can ignore it.

Amazing Story Line

Well thought out with excelent dialogue. This book is a keeper. Fun, entertaining and sexy, Nora Roberts can be a little slow at times, but this was by far one of her best novels. A+

Great Friendly Banter/Dialogue

Can't say that I'm an avid reader of Nora Robert's novels. However decided to give Hot Ice a go. It's another suspense thriller with a hint of romance types...

The ending was okay, didn't particularly care for the explanation on how exactly Doug and Whitney were rescued, seemed a bit sloppy... But did enjoy the friendly banter/dialogue that took place between Whitney and Doug.

Entertaining to the max

I just finished this book and thought that it was wonderful. The interplay between the characters was unique and yet classic. The adventures that they got into was great and the tension between them lasted to the end.

Good Listen

I love Nora Roberts and had read this book (but quite some time ago) so listening to it again brought it all back. She is a great storyteller and this one had a great adventure. I hope you give it a try you'll enjoy.

cringe

The dialog was so contrived I could barely listen to it. The characters were luke warm and there was no believable build up of their going on an adventure together. without giving it away - they literally stumble on each other and the next thing you know off they go! the reader was awful at the male voices - it actually sounded as if she was making fun of their roles. If her other books are like this then I just read the last one. in a nutshell - yuck!

Cute book, some good laughs

I enjoy Noras books so much. I needed some easy listening, not wanting to keep track of a lot of characters. It fit the bill, it was easy, fun, interesting and I am sorry to say I think now have all her books. I enjoyed it, wish I could find more that weren't just four or five hours. I don't like short books. She just can't write them fast enough for me. Good book, worth the credit.

A waste of time but I perservered because I really enjoy Nora Roberts books. Don't make the same mistake I did. Trite and predictable.

Well written. Witty dialogue. I wish that audible had more of this kind of offering.
