    "I want more..."

I love Mr. Gilstrap's writing style and his story flow. I enjoyed the book from the first 5 minutes of listening. I did not find his use of sexual crimes overused at all. Been around too many that have been sexually abused during their youth-thought it was very real on that front. I couldn't wait for the time I could listen again to the book. I will look for more from this author. Narrator Jeremy Gage sold it!

"Good book, did not care for narrator"

I enjoyed this book but think it would have been a better 'read' than a 'listen'. I did not care for the narrator and found myself tuning him out and having to go back and listen again. A suggestion to anyone thinking of buying this title, listen to a sample of the book first.....

    "Detailed and riveting"

This was a very enjoyable book and I would recommend it to others. My only complaint is the authors over use of child sexual abuse references. I do not believe it added to the plot and was very distracting. Otherwise, the characters were vivid and realistic and the story compelling.

    "Disgusting."
Would you try another book from John Gilstrap and/or Jeremy Gage?

    No.

Has Hostage Zero turned you off from other books in this genre?

    No, just John Gilstrap's books.

    Any additional comments?

Boys from a 'home for boys' were kidnapped and there were references about the killing of the boys, killing of other children, molestation of the children. The author was making references, and I kept hoping that maybe it was just talk and no one was actually going to be raped. Then in the second part of the book a girl was raped and that's where I reached my limit. Killing and raping of children is not something I'm interested in reading. I absolutely have no tolerance for the suffering of animals or children. I keep asking Audible to rate their books so that I don't keep buying this garbage and having to return it. And since they're evidently not listening, I've started rating the books myself in hopes that the information will be of help to others like me.

    "Good story, awful narration"

This is the one time I wish I would have bought the book instead of audio. The story seems interesting enough but it’s hard to get involved due to the painfully slow presentation by the narrator. It’s a story full of action and intrigue but sounds like someone’s Grandpa reading a story out loud without his reading glasses.

"Jeremy Gage puts me to sleep!!"
What disappointed you about Hostage Zero?

I think its a good book, but difficult to know for sure, since I kept losing interest due to the horrible narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hostage Zero?

    .

What didn’t you like about Jeremy Gage’s performance?

This is a good book, but I am struggling to get through it listening to Jeremy! He is a horrible narrator! His voice inflections are suited for children's books, maybe!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hostage Zero?

    .

    Any additional comments?

John Gilstrap should pay to have this book re-read by Basil Sands!!!

"Maybe read it, not listen to it."
Would you consider the audio edition of Hostage Zero to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print, only listening to audio, so unsure if it's better than print. However I've purchased numerous in this series and the audio was great. In this one, the narration is so off base for the story I wish I hadn't wasted the money. While the voice is soothing, this book is a suspense novel, with what I feel should be many inflections and voices modulated to match the character, this book does NOT have that. Such a shame because I've really enjoyed the narration in the other books.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Gilstrap? Why or why not?

I have listened to almost all of Gilstrap's books in this series. They are great books, looking forward to trying others not in the series. I do recommend the author.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jeremy Gage?

The narrator should be the same guy who did the other books in this series. He created feasible character voices and personas.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No, nothing in this book has moved me yet, other than I want to sleep due to the narrator's voice.

    Any additional comments?

I haven't finished this book yet, it's just not what I have come to expect from the books in this series. I am struggling to continue listening, I catch myself having to rewind because the narration was so mellow, that I zone out and totally miss what happens. I've never had that problem before with Gilstrap books. So I recommend the book, based on content, I can't recommend this audio version of it, with this narrator. His voice is soothing, perhaps he should be doing love stories.
