Publisher's summary

Callahan Garrity is the owner of House Mouse, a cleaning service that tidies up after Atlanta's elite. She's also a former cop and a part-time sleuth. She and her coterie of devoted helpers can ransack a house for clues faster than it takes a fingerprint to set.

Some people might call Callahan Garrity nosy, but she prefers to think of her tendency toward snooping as a healthy interest in the truth. So when news reaches her of her cousin Patti's death during a carjacking, Callahan shakes off her House Mouse cleaning uniform to don her detective's cap. It's not that she doesn't have confidence in the Atlanta police - she used to be among their ranks - but the crime is too incongruous with Patti's suburban life to seem like a random incident.

Who doesn't love Callahan Garrity

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

yes, I have actually

What other book might you compare Homemade Sin to and why?

all the Callahan Garrity books Ive read so far have been wonderful; they remind me a bit of some of James Patterson's women's murder club books but with a southern accent (which I love).

What does Hillary Huber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

that adorable southern accent

Nothing Special

Would you try another book from Mary Kay Andrews and/or Hillary Huber?

Of Course. I like her stories. They are easy to listen to and kind of zone out with. They are generally entertaining. This one just missed the mark.

Yes.

Which character – as performed by Hillary Huber – was your favorite?

Neva Jean.

Was Homemade Sin worth the listening time?

Well...I finished it so I suppose so, but I think it felt like more of an obligation to finish the book because I bought it.

A Good Book to Sleep To

What did you like best about Homemade Sin? What did you like least?

I was excited to introduce my husband to this series, so on our way to DC, we tried to listen to this book. Holy Moses, it was so-o-o-o disappointingly boring! We tried again, on our way home, but could not do it. Another fifteen more minutes, and that was all we could do; evensped up the pace on the playback, hoping it was the narrator, but that did no good. I was truly saddened, as I've been able to get him into books in the past via Audible. Sorry, but yuck. This Callahan crushed my heart.

Has Homemade Sin turned you off from other books in this genre?

No.

Would you be willing to try another one of Hillary Huber’s performances?

Not without listening to a sample first.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

I'm spooked off of this series now, which is disappointing. Reading is my escape.

Pretty good

Interesting mystery, great narrator, the ending was ok, and the relationship between her and Mac-uninteresting. Yes, I’ll keep reading this series because the other characters and the mysteries keep me interested.

I love being in on the chase

This wa a good read. I like a few rabbit holes. Also descriptions of what she sees. Kept me involved. Not necessarily glued but still interested enough to want to tune in.
