Publisher's summary

You have good reason to be afraid....

It was a case that haunts Bobby Dodge to this day - the case that nearly killed him and changed his life forever. Now, in an underground chamber on the grounds of an abandoned Massachusetts mental hospital, the gruesome discovery of six mummified corpses resurrects his worst nightmare: the return of a killer he thought dead and buried.

There’s no place to run....

Bobby’s only lead is wrapped around a dead woman’s neck. Annabelle Granger has been in hiding for as long as she can remember. Her childhood was a blur of new cities and assumed identities. But what - or who - her family was running from, she never knew. Now, a body is unearthed from a grave, wearing a necklace bearing Annabelle’s name, and the danger is too close to escape. This time, she’s not going to run.

You know he will find you....

The new threat could be the dead psychopath’s copycat, his protégé - or something far more terrifying. Dodge knows the only way to find him is to solve the mystery of Annabelle Granger, and to do that, he must team up with his former lover, partner, and friend D. D. Warren from the Boston PD. But the trail leads back to a woman from Bobby’s past who may be every bit as dangerous as the new killer - a beautiful survivor turned avenger with an eerie link to Annabelle.

From its tense opening moments to its shocking climax, Hide is a thriller that delves into our deepest, darkest fears. Where there is no one to trust. Where there is no place left to hide.

Too many twists

I love a good mystery. Mysteries are puzzles that give your brain a good workout. However, when the author doesn't give you the most pertinent piece of information until nearly the end of the book , then instead of being a good puzzle it is just frustrating.

Oh....WAIT....WHA??? NO WAY!!!

My first read/listen to this author. I grabbed this book in the most recent two-for sale since I am out of reads for my S.O.P. authors. Thank you Audible for that two-for sale…without it….. I doubt I would have discovered this author.

If you know the formula of this type of story line---- a little too well and can’t be all that surprised---- where you figure out where the plot is going to go and end……half way thru…do yourself a favor and check this author out.

If this is going to be your first time with this author, do not make plans to do anything but listen, you will not want to shut this one off.

I am a die-hard fan of Connelly, JL Burk, Baldacci, Coben, Clancy.

When it comes to authors….. I am a sexist woman…I am hard on my own kind.

I RARELY purchase female authors because I’m not big on the rom/ chic- lit edge female writers tend to drop into the story line and I’m not big on female narrations, too often they are whiney/shrill.

I have been reading police procedurals/detective novels for years.
I know the formula and usually by mid book I know who the bad seed is.

With this story line…
OHHHHHH HEEEEEEEE********** NOOOOOOO.
Every time I thought I had a bead on the real bad seed…
WHAM…surprise…nope….nope I didn’t.

The plots twist---and there are a lot of them----- work. They didn’t feel chunky and like it was the author trying to work with a theme and dropping the plot when they can’t make a twist seamless.

I did figure out who it was going to be in the last 1.5 hours but was totally shocked at the how/why the bad seed…..…holy cow.

One of the best endings I have encountered in ages!

I can’t wait to get time to listen to more of Ms. Gardner’s books.

The narrator, like I said I avoid female narrators. If I could find more with the talent this narrator has, I might be spending more money and time then I should be investing in my Audible (addiction) indulgence.

The woman who does the narration for this story has me re thinking my sexist ways of not listening to female narrators.

No whine, no shrill…just steady and she has a good feel for each character she voices, and she voices the male characters in a way that doesn’t disrupt the flow of her narration. I’ll be looking for more books she is the narrator also.

Hiding and crazy family members??

This is the best Thriller l have listened to. l enjoyed it so much. l listened to it at work mostly and when my co workers talk to me, l had to pay attention to them. Then l miss some part. When l go back to it l go back further so l can hear it all again. l did not want it to end. l am going to listen to it again and again.

Lisa Gardner is a master storyteller!!!!!

I blew through this book. Once I began listening I just could not stop. This was the only Lisa Gardner book that I hadn't listened to yet. I have had it in my library for quite sometime but for some reason never got around to it. It's now obvious though, without knowing it I had saved the best Lisa Gardner book for last. This book was simply amazing and Annabelle is an easy character to love. This story is fast paced and has the plot twists that Lisa Gardner is known for. This book is definitely worth a credit and it was also well narrated. You won't be sorry. Just beware this book is sad. It's sad because things like this really do happen and there are monsters out there walking amongst us.

ok

Great story, but the narrator in this one couldn't do a Bobby voice at all! it was frustrating when the two main characters DD Warren and Bobby were talking, I couldn't tell who was supposed to be talking, because this narrator makes Bobby sound just like DD. So I almost didn't follow through with it. but the story is interesting so I kept at it. I'm really hoping though the next book has a different narrator.
