Welcome to The Isle.
Lily Locke has never believed in witches and wizards, ghosts and magic, shifters and vampires - especially cute blonde vamps with blood-intolerance issues. A rising star at a hotshot marketing agency in Minneapolis, Minnesota, all Lily knows is that she's a PowerPoint guru, an Excel ninja, and a coffee-maker extraordinaire. Not to mention she's next in line for a huge promotion.
All that changes when Lily's assistant delivers a strange quiz to her, one titled A Magical Assessment for Normal Folks. With it comes the promise of a land she's never known existed. A land where Lily not only discovers her biological family for the first time, but a place where she can make a difference, change lives, and step into the role she's destined to fulfill.
But first, Lily must admit she's a witch. Then, she has to acknowledge that the tall, dark, and mysterious man who offers his help is strictly focused on business...at least, for now. When a body turns up dead and the next target is Lily, she must trust her powers and accept the help of her newfound friends. Otherwise, she'll never survive the trials of the magical island tucked far, far away in the frigid waters of Lake Superior.

I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
It was a cute book, and very well narrated!!
Its a witchy cozy mystery..I am sure there is some more...this one is super cute though!!

Lily is in marketing...and is happy with her normal life for the most part...she gets this strange quiz which she thinks is a joke form her assistant..it says if you can read the quiz you may be a witch...and all others will see David Hasselhoff in a bikini...lol Of course she thinks its a joke! Well her day gets really weird...her presentation goes crazy and she ends up fired...she goes to a bar where her friend bar tends..and meets her kooky aunts...she is hesitant to go with them but they talk her into going to the Isle...a place where her family has lived forever...She is to be the next mixologist...but someone has other ideas and things get deadly!!
GOOD STORY AND GREAT NARRATION! WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND A CREDIT!!!
I was just a great book overall and it had a wonderful narrator who really brought it to life.
I didn't have a favorite character I loved them all.
There wasn't really 1 scene that was better than any other, but the wave was a pretty awesome one.
This story made me laugh and I was also on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who did it. really great story and not at all who I suspected.
I loved hearing this story. Going fro the normal to the magical and being the most powerful person there would be pretty awesome. I love that this is such a mystery as to who done it. The sparks that fly between Agent X and Lily add the right element to make the story even better and Wendy does an awesome narration. I couldn't imagine this story any other way.
I love Gina LaManna books. I didn't think it was possible, but the audible version is
even better than the books. This is a great start to a new series. Lily is a fun character,
can't wait to read more about her.
Ms. King does a wonderful job on the narration. You can close your eyes and imagine you're there on the island too. Highly recommend.
This reads like a preteen fantasy mystery. All of the adult women in this book behave like giddy school girls, hyper focused on the protagonist's love interest aptly named Ranger X.
None of the interesting mysteries or questions get answered in this volume
This is a great book; this is the first book in the Magic & Mixology Mystery series written by Gina LaManna and narrated by Wendy Tremont King. Lily Locke has never believed in witches, wizards, ghosts, shifters, vampires, and magic. When Lily’s assistant gives her a strange quiz titled A Magical Assessment for Normal Folks and ends up passing it. The next thing she knows her aunts track her down and takes her to “The Isle” an island which has plenty of supernatural beings. She also discovers that she is a witch and is the new mixologist. This book has a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises.
The narrator Wendy Tremont King did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.
If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.
Yes. It's a fun listen. As the first in the series it's introducing you to a new workd. I will be buying the rest of the series when they come out. So I will relisten to the series again in preparation for the next books. With some authors it can be a chore or I dont even bother. With this book I will enjoy relistening to it again.
I love Lilly. She's sassy and a little precious. It's fun watching her stumble through this new world.
I honestly loved all the charecter she portrayed in the book. She did a good job and it was easy to tell the difference between charecters and who was speaking.
Yes. I listened into the early hours of the morning trying to finish the book.
It's a fun listen. I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next book.
It makes me happy to wake up everyday and look forward to listening. Many times I listen while doing artwork. I find it very relaxing.
HEX ON THE BEACH was such a fun listen. I enjoyed this story on so many levels. It had funny, awesome characters along with a terrific storyline. It started off strong and stayed in that range throughout. The characters of Mimsey and Trinket (Lily's aunts) AND Gus and then also Zen and Poppy whom one is a vamp and the other a shifter just made this a super good listen. I loved when Lily ate her first gummy bear and when she took the boat ride to the Island.
This story was magical, it held my interest, and left something to my imagination as well. I didn't feel overloaded with information. I think it was really close to perfect and looking forward to book two in this series. I like Gina LaManna's writing style a lot.
Wendy Tremont King's narration was absolutely perfect. With her voice inflections and light character enhancements, she was straight down the middle excellent. Not overdone or underdone. Author and reader made for an ideal combination and I'd recommend this one all day.

witches, magic, humor, suspense, murder
Another great fun book from Gina LaManna! I saw it and had to have it. Quite different in theme from the others except the humor is right there. Witches and magic sort of on Lake Superior's north shore, or something. Complete with a new found family of oddballs, a curmudgeonly instructor, a hot protector known only as Ranger X, and a whole lot more. Loved it!
The audio performance is by Wendy Tremont King who really nails it!
Alerted to it as Whispersync on the cheap by BookGorilla.
Lily is off to meet her family and start a new job as a oncologist. She finds herself surrounded by family she never knew and some other odd and interesting characters on the island she now calls home. After mixing a cure for a customer who turns up dead she's now being investigated by the rangers for his death. She finds herself in Ranger X's custody and can't deny her sexual attraction to him. She's determined to make the best of her situation and clear her name, so that she can get back to her new life and new job. This story is fun and full of delightful characters along with vivid descriptions. The narrator does a really great job of telling the story and bringing the characters and story to life. Overall I really enjoyed this book and would listen to it again.
There is just so much potential here and so many avenues that this story idea can take to this just has to become a series.
I know that there are witchy books in abundance, some good and some not so good, but this one's particular concept is one of the better ones and I loved it.
The story is absolutely brilliant with twists and turns, magic, romance, a heroine, crazy (but very loving and caring) family members, hunks - some good and some bad, friends, a grumpy, old tutor and of course a villain - and so many chuckles.
So, we have a young, unattached lady by the name of Lily Locke who doesn't know that she is in fact a witch. She doesn't even believe in them. She works her butt off in an advertising agency and one day things really go wrong for her with the strangest things happening in her presentation even though these things didn't happen in any of the many practices she had done before. And she loses her job.
Needless to say she is made aware that she is a witch by two of her aunts and then whipped off to a witchy island where we meet two of her cousins, her grandmother, a tutor, the guy in charge of safety of the island and a few other characters. These characters and what they get up to are brilliantly woven together is a light, humerous, easy to listen to story.
I've never heard of the term 'Mixology' before but it apparently means the study of mixing various ingredients to make a potion of sorts. This is what I understand about it from the story and this is to be Lily's forte and special ability.
The narration by Wendy Tremont King was really good. She has a really interesting voice and knows how to use it.
Gina LaManna has written another hit and I am very sure that you will love it as much I I have.
