Grab the book, and a warm fuzzy blanket!

I knew that I was gonna be in for a good time when I found this quote right in the first chapter...
"At least I'm not reading a book by Alexander dumass." Best line evarrr! 😆
As Craig Johnson/Walt Longmire pulled me into Absaroka County and once again under their spell!
I generally don't continue reading/listening to long series. Usually, getting bored or just being disappointed in the progression, long before I get this deep. The reason why I'm still here is because Craig Johnson changes up the plot, sometimes being a mystery, an sometimes it's totally action-driven. But whatever it is, there is Walt who always follows his convictions and his heart even when he knows that he's being foolish! And there's always that underlying thread of Crow and Cheyenne Shamanic mysticism running throughout all of Walt Longmire's books! The fact that this was a Virgil White Buffalo centric book made Hell is Empty all the better!
So latch on to the Longmire series and this book, grab a warm fuzzy blanket, 'cause you're gonna need it in the early spring of Wyoming!
Ohhhh and get the audio version because you need not look any farther than George Guidall to tell you Walt's tale!

George Guidall triumphs again

Longmire stories never Fail to capture the reader, almost with the first sentence! Guidall’s interpretation of Walt Longmire is phenomenal-keeps me coming back for more!

The Asides That Take Over

I will be in search of Virgil and.his ghostly visceral presence in this novel for a long time. I hope I can find him, for the novel will stay with me forever if I do not succeed.

Mr. Johnson, please write faster!!!

I waited and waited for this book to hit Audible.com and then absolutely devoured it. About mid way through I was already mourning the fact that George/Walt (I think they're one person) and I were soon to part company again. I've decided to go back to the first book and start over. Walt is an amazing character but I really missed Vic and the Cheyenne Nation in this one :) Great series!!!!

A darker story than usual

It’s the only book (so far) that the TV show has based an episode on so I knew what was going to happen, but it was still really good. You could call it magic realism or exposure-related hallucinations, but Longmire chases a serial killer up a mountain in a snowstorm and not everything that happens is real. There's just the right amount of humor to keep everything from being too bleak. Grade: A-

Perfect narration.

Thank You! Craig and George

I have been a fan from the first book to this one of Craig and George, Craig has a knack for capturing a truly dying breed of men and women and George has a knack for bringing them to life... For personal reasons this is my favorite book by Craig to date. If you have not listened to any of the Walt Longmire series and you like a little comedy with some hard core life and death situations, all of Craig's books are great. If you have never listened to a book narrated by George you are in for a huge treat. This is a wonderful book. Thanks again, both of you! Jean
