Publisher's summary

The #1 bestselling phenomenon continues in the eighth Stephanie Plum novel. The stakes get higher, the crimes get nastier, the chases get faster, and the men get hotter.

This time Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger. Lula, Valerie, and Grandma Mazur are strapped in for the ride of their lives. Stephanie is hired to find a missing child. But things aren't always as they seem and Stephanie must determine if she's working for the right side of the law. Plus, there's the Morelli question: can a Jersey girl keep her head on straight when more than just bullets are aimed for her heart? And with the Plum and Morelli relationship looking rocky, is it time for Ranger to move in for the kill? Janet Evanovich's latest thriller proves that Hard Eight will never be enough.

Great

Another great book in the Stephanie Plum series. I prefer the Plum books read by CJ Critt, but it is still another fun ride!

Better Narrative Performance

Enjoyed storyline, the humor was good throughout the story. Narrative was better in volume 8 vs 7. Lorelei performance was greatly
improved for my liking.

Disappointed a little

Over all I've loved these books. I am a little disappointed with Step this time. Without giving it all away .. I feel she is a two-faced ho. She is so worried about Joe being with a past flame from high school and Ranger being with a very talented girl bounty hunter. She should talk. She should be put on a street corner. At least she could bring in some money to buy her cakes and cookies . It seems that's all she's good at lately. As for the two men in her life .. they both should send her packing and share the earnings from her street corner job.
Putting that aside the story was good with some laughs from time to time.

Great books

I love the books but HATE the added music the throw in at story changes. Its jarring and an annoying added sound to the audiobook being read. I wish they would just stop with the music.

One of Evanovich’s best

I’ve read most of the Stephanie Plum books, somehow I skipped over this one. If you want to laugh out loud, get your adrenaline going, (and maybe a hormone rush thrown in) you should read this! One of her best!!

good

Still trying to get used to the new narrator. Ranger sounds more sleazy and smarmy than mysteriously sexy. Grandma Mazur's voice was a little annoying at first. Not sure if I'm getting used to the new voices or the narrator has adjusted them since the last book. Could do without the oddly placed background music that doesn't fit the scene, too. Nevertheless, I am enjoying this series and the narration isn't going to keep me from listening to the rest of the books.

Best one yet !

I love this series so far, this was the best one as yet ! I wish the narrator didn’t use a Mexican accent For Ranger but she does a great job otherwise !

standard Evanovich

Not the best Stephanie Plum book. I never heard Critt's narration since King redid them. King's portrayal of some characters is uneven. The music at random times is odd and doesn’t match the situations.
