In this third book of the series, Private investigator Jim Knighthorse finds himself on the trail of his mother's killer, a cold case spanning two decades. While on the hunt, he takes on a brutal case that takes him into shark-infested waters and deep into the heart of Mexico.
All the while, Knighthorse comes closer and closer to finding his mother's killer...and there's going to be hell to pay.

I don't know if I would read another J. R. Rain book.
I'd need to know that I wasn't going to be ambushed by a twist in the plot that described such horrible animal abuse as was in this book.
I"m not sure
I would cut the entire part about the dog abuse. When I first discovered J. R. Rain's books I read everything here on Audible as quickly as I could. I loved them. Then when Hail Mary came out I bought it and started listening to it. I was so upset by the portrayal of dog abuse that I could not listen to any more of it. I am an animal lover and am very concerned with their protection. But, when I listen to books it is for enjoyment. I am disappointed in Mr. Rain for this book. I don't know if I can trust him so I could read any more of his books.
If you're an animal lover this one might be hard to hear. It goes into uncomfortable descriptions of animal cruelty. To offset the shark fin case he also goes on the hunt for a flasher. In between those cases he continues to look for his mother's murderer. It's a short book but there's a lot packed into it with a surprise ending. And, of course, his ego is heard from a lot.
