Is it possible to be one of the world's most dangerous whistleblowers and still make a killer meatloaf? Becky Taylor is about to find out.

As a stay-at-home mom with an adorable four-year-old son, Becky Taylor knows she has her hands full. Even though she's juggling her husband's important career ambitions, competitive playgroup moms, and a sister who won't stop reminding her of the dreams she once had to fight for social justice, Becky still feels something is missing. When she discovers a disc with damaging information about a megabank, Becky begins covertly moonlighting for one of the world's most controversial websites, exposing state and corporate secrets. But with the Feds hot on her trail, increasing doubts about the motivation of the mysterious head of the website, and the growing difficulty of leading a double life, Becky may be embroiled in a world more dangerous than she ever imagined.

Interesting Plot

Becky Taylor wants a career that allows her to fight for social justice instead she is a stay at home mom with a four year old son and a husband with an important career as a prosecutor.

She feels something is missing and her sister keeps reminding her of her ambition to fight for social justice. Becky discovers a disc with damaging information about a megabank. She begins covertly seeking information and exposes state and corporate secrets and now the Feds are on her trail.

The book is only five hours long but is interesting and a timely topic. The author builds the suspense throughout the story and there is some humor. There are a number of technical errors that would turn off the more technical skilled reader. The book is an average get away from it all read. Tanya Eby narrated the book.

Meh

I was less than impressed. Neither the story, its characters, or the narrator were very interesting. A really good story will make you become invested in the lives of its characters regardless of the story, but by the end of this one I didn't care at all about any of them. Skip this book, there are so many better ones to enjoy.

So-So writing AND narrator

I was not very impressed. Mediocre writing and narrator made it hard to listen to. Glad I only paid $1.95 for this.

the best part is the title

The title is the most interesting part of this story, but it never lives up to the name. So this mom who knows her way around a computer takes a job exposing corporate wrong doing. But she gets in way over her head and people are after her.

This is not a book for people who are into computers as it is very superficial. It is also not a book for those who like police stories because nobody really cares about her except one self-abusing FBI loser. And it isn't a book for those who like the little guy out to right wrongs because it all turns out to be a sham anyway.

It's more like a cartoon, say like Rocky and Bullwinkle, but without the wit, without the political savvy, and without the depth. The shady characters are ridiculous. The relationship with her sister makes a beginning, and the relationship with her husband never goes where it should. He should have been more suspicious of her activities and their marriage should have been rocky. Her son, who makes the "mom" part of the title, is incidental and could have been eliminated. Actually her husband could have been eliminated too, oh, and maybe the sister.

It is not very believable nor very exciting nor very deep. She doesn't really hack, she isn't really in danger from the police, and there isn't much about her being a mom except that she has a son whom she feels she endangered by her actions. And she might have jeopardized her husband's political career if knowledge of her miniscule hacking gets out.

If his had been written by a teenager (like Eragon), you might be impressed, but otherwise there are lots of more interesting, more developed, more plausible stories out there. (BTW, the most impressive thing about Eragon is that is was written by a 15-y-o.)

Light easy read

It was a fun fluff book without a lot of depth. Not the type of book I read often , but i enjoyed it. It was especially nice to get it as the deal of the day!

Hacker Mom

This book kept me sitting at my desk until 7 in the evening. I didn't want to stop my phone long enough to ride the elevator, walk to the car, & plug in the phone for the story's end. Suspenseful to the end. Well written; well read.

Misleading title

It seems the mom is just an introvert who doesn't have much going on for herself besides motherhood. Her sister is the hacker and this association draws her into an espionage-type situation.
