Publisher's summary

Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. For four days they're free to live someone else's life. As the weekend moves into pulsating discos, high-stakes casinos, and beyond, Abbie is transported to the greatest pleasure and release she has ever known. In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police.

Something awful has happened - something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable. And now the vacation of a lifetime becomes the fight of a lifetime - for survival.

Guilty Wives is the ultimate indulgence, the kind of non-stop joy-ride of excess, friendship, betrayal, and danger that only James Patterson can create.

Critic reviews

"A genius mash-up (in today’s parlance) of chick-lit and The Hangover: a Monte Carlo trip goes very wrong." ( Mail on Sunday’s Live magazine hot release)
"This brilliant story of loyalty, betrayal and excess is utterly thrilling – a sun-lounger must!" (5 stars, Closer)
"Must read" ( Saturday Express magazine)

More entertaining than 50 Shades

Where does Guilty Wives rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have just finished 50 Shades of Grey and this book beats it hands down.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Definitely, I couldn't stop listening to it. I had it playing softly under my pillow at 4am.

What does January Lavoy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A feeling of tension building.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Wouldn't go as far as that but it was an emotional roller coaster.

Any additional comments?

This is the first book I have reviewed because I think it deserves a good rating.

Definitely! Couldn't stop listening. Great story. Great mystery. The reader does the change of accents very well.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the reader changed into the first person whenever she was in the part of the main character. The story was fascinating and easy to follow.

What does January Lavoy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The change of accents, American to French to British.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! Unfortunately this was not possible but I loved every minute of it.

Couldn’t stop listening

I really enjoyed this story. Twists and turns throughout the story. Go Abby. Poor Winnie.

I could not stop listening to this book, it grips you from the start and leaves you guessing right up to the end, which I never saw coming. The narration is fantastic.

Not one of his better efforts I felt!

I can usually tell now when I am going to really get immersed in an Audiobook. My attention seldom waivers and I become engrossed.
This did NOT happen for me with Guilty Wives. It may have had something to do with the fact that I viewed the four Wives as superficial & lacking substance.
The circumstances of their arrest and the plot generally did not generate the level of intrigue that I would have expected. I have enjoyed a number of Patterson's books but this wasn't one of them! The performance was okay but the South African accent portrayal was rather fragile.

great storyline with a great end

Even though the author gives you a hint of who committed the crime has an excellent storyline with a great ending. Good main character.
