Publisher's summary

After a lavish night of guilty pleasures in Monte Carlo, four best friends face an awful morning of arrests - and a fight for survival.

Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. As the weekend moves into pulsating discos, high-stakes casinos, and beyond, Abbie is transported to the greatest pleasure and release she has ever known.

In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police. Something awful has happened: something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable. And now the vacation of a lifetime becomes the fight of a lifetime - a fight for survival.

Guilty Wives is the ultimate indulgence, the kind of nonstop joy-ride of excess, friendship, betrayal, and danger that only James Patterson can create.

I'm going to pair up with Abbie if I go to Paris!

Probably one of the best books I've listened to in a long time. James Patterson can't be missed most of the time, but I missed this one.

How would you respond to being accused of a murder while overseas on a girls trip? Abbie refuses to believe that any of them are guilty and she's not letting anything get in her way. The emotions that Abbie, and most likely the rest of the gals, are so extreme! From enjoying their time at the pool with drinks and their time in prison. The trials that Abbie goes through in a French prison are highly detailed, and the authors don't skip a beat on any of it.

The narrator of this story is so good with the changing of accents, she goes from english, to french, to spanish, and back again almost seamlessly. I almost felt like I learned a bit of French in the telling too!

Couldn't Pull Myself Away!

While putting on my make up, folding laundry or cooking, I just had to keep listening to find out what happened in the next chapter. LOVED IT!

Enjoyable

Overall I enjoyed this book. The character of Abby was well written, a woman who never gave up hope. Her determination and courage throughout is what held my interest. I wish there was more in the story about the other women. They just popped in and out here and there. A few loose ends were left dangling. I would’ve liked to have learned if the sadistic prison guards had faced retribution. Also, the whole motivation of the perpetrator was both understandable and over the top.
