Publisher's summary

After a lavish night of guilty pleasures in Monte Carlo, four best friends face an awful morning of arrests - and a fight for survival.

Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. As the weekend moves into pulsating discos, high-stakes casinos, and beyond, Abbie is transported to the greatest pleasure and release she has ever known.

In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police. Something awful has happened: something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable. And now the vacation of a lifetime becomes the fight of a lifetime - a fight for survival.

Guilty Wives is the ultimate indulgence, the kind of nonstop joy-ride of excess, friendship, betrayal, and danger that only James Patterson can create.

Loved it!

Would you listen to Guilty Wives again? Why?

The story was really good. Even though you could guess "who done it" you weren't sure why or how. The narrator's accents were amusing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Guilty Wives?

I don't want to spoil it with my favorite part.

What does January LaVoy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices and accents of the different characters!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Being a mom the children killed me.

Any additional comments?

I listen to books for amusement when I am driving or getting ready for work. I am busy and don't have a lot of time to read(even though I love to read.) I could not stop listening to this book. Anytime any of my family members heard parts of this book they wanted to know what was happening. It pulled them all in.

Ditto - Don't waste your credit.

What is James Patterson thinking?...Is he even reading what this co-author wrote.....Drivel, is a word that comes to mind! I have always been a big fan of Patterson's entertaining, fast paced novels, now I will be more careful. Why do some top authors seem to sell out and release inferior work after the first three or four hits?

A Nail Biter

The story is no mystery, but it keeps you wondering how the heroine will get out of her mess and fight back. This is the classic tale of men who disrespect their wives, betray them, then are stunned and angered when they get a dose of their own medicine. Overall, I liked the story.

Ridiculous

The narrator did a good job. However, in a word, this book was ridiculous. I had to stop listening after about 2 hours. The plot was ridiculous, the characters were ridiculous. I could go into a lot of detail with examples of its ridiculousness but I've already wasted 2 hours on this book and I don't want to waste anymore. I never miss an Alex Cross novel and am a big fan of those....surely the guy who wrote this must be a different James Patterson.

Skip the middle 30 chapters...at least. The worst

What would have made Guilty Wives better?

Shorten the part between the trial and the escape. Create a new plot. Housewives killing the President of France...seriously?

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of January LaVoy?

Ok. So discouraged with the plot didn't pay attention to narrator

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Dissappointment

Don't Waste Your Credit!!

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This story was just so absurd and so painfully ridiculous, I couldn't stand listening to it! The characters are just as stupid...sooo unrealistic!

Has Guilty Wives turned you off from other books in this genre?

I'm giving up on James Patterson...he's a total sell-out.

Any additional comments?

Only read this book if you want to be frustrated, bored and depressed!

Powerful book for Women!!!!

Would you listen to Guilty Wives again? Why?

I have listened to Guilty wives at least 20 time... January LaVoy was great at reading and depicting the cruel Lucy and Sabin.... her french accent was spot on.... I love how she depicted Abbey as a strong, highly moraled woman trying to keep her sanity together.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Abbie Elliot was my favorite because she was depicted as a strong and clever woman... she never gave up hope and was never bullied. I like Lucy and Sabin as well they were depicted as ugly, corrupt and just plain nasty people. Lynnette depicted as the helpful sweet co-prisoner of Abbey and had helped Abbey through her ordeal while in prison.

What about January LaVoy’s performance did you like?

This is the first time I have heard January Lavoy and as of right now I am trying to find books that she has performed on. The one reason I love this book was her performance... the way she depicted Abbie's strength; quick wit or quick witted remarks towards the villains was at times hilarious and I found myself clapping and crying at the same time. I hope she reads more for James Patterson ... As a matter of fact i have just finished the 11th Hour by James Patterson and I loved her performance there as well...

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were two events: the death of Lynette and the Wendie as well as when Abbie finally was able to escape prison... I was on pin and needles listening to her when Abbie was on the last gate and the guard asked her about her bandage. (thinking it was the evil Lucy)...

Any additional comments?

Yes as I have said earlier I hope January LaVoy will read more of the James Patterson books (Women's murder club; etc) because I just love listening to her....

I would highly recommend this book to everyone .... it has drama, sexiness and hopefully they make this into a movie would love how Abbie and Ingersoll have a series like Alex Cross and the Bennett series.

NARRATOR IS THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT IT

What would have made Guilty Wives better?

Consistancy would have been nice. It was so all over the place and ridiculous I found myself wishing I could go back to the previous chapter to make sure I was even on the same path as where it seemed to be going.

What was most disappointing about James Patterson and David Ellis ’s story?

Absolutely everything about this story was a snore. Too much french, too many choppy chapters and jumping all over to the point where i no longer even cared and stopped listening.

What about January LaVoy’s performance did you like?

She was great. Excellent french and inflection

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger at the waste of my credit. This is garbage

The worst ever produced

What would have made Guilty Wives better?

Everything and anything

What was most disappointing about James Patterson and David Ellis ’s story?

The out come is obvious before the first chapter ends. The process of the trial is obvious when the women are being interrigated. I probably will not even finish this books the story is slow boring and no suspense involved. The death of the women in prision is forshadowed to be obvious, the treatment is obvious once we know who was killed. the rest is just so far beneath Patterson that it is hard to put into words.

What aspect of January LaVoy’s performance would you have changed?

all the french words Her voice is hard to listen to when she is trying to be a man and when she is speaking french.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

none so far. I am on chapter 40 or so and so far nothing has perked my interest or given me a reason to continue other than I paid too much for the book.

Any additional comments?

I am finding the last several books written with other people are getting harder and harder to listen to or to read. The old Patterson seems to be gone and the new one is not nearly as good and does not live up to expections.
