Publisher's summary

Twenty-something Harper Connelly has a gift. After being struck by lighting as a child, she discovered an eerie ability to locate the deceased.

In Memphis, skeptical Professor Nunley wants her to demonstrate her skill at an ancient cemetery. There, Harper stands atop a grave and says there are two bodies entombed: one centuries old, but the other, a young girl named Tabitha.

Her assertion holds water. Tabitha has been missing for two years - and now the police are suspicious of Harper. So with her loyal stepbrother, Tolliver, Harper begins to amass clues that will solve the case.

always a twist

Loved it! There are always twists and turns in these stories and I love figuring the options and waiting to see the real outcome.

Another great series by Charlaine Harris

Would you consider the audio edition of Grave Surprise to be better than the print version?

I love the audible versions of all the books I listen to... the books just come alive.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The story line is different from others I've been reading so it holds my interest and makes me want to know what is going to happen next.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't want to give anything away... but my favorite scene is one with her and Tolliver and a revelation that Harper has.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

I feel dead people!!!

Any additional comments?

Charlaine never disappoints!

I'd do it again

I am enjoying this series from CH. I hope the rest are as good as the first two.
On to the next!

Interesting concept

The girl in the story could stand on a grave and feel information from the dead person in the grave.

fun

I enjoyed this story. The protagonist is unusual with her gift--it is such a novel premise. It is not extremely suspenseful but it does keep you guessing for a good portion of the novel and the characters are interesting. As an aside, it does illuminate what ANY individual faces from the general population when they are perceived as "different"--be it her gift or something more common place.

A nice surprise.

I really liked this story, it has interesting and likeable characters, kept me guessing and the narrator was easy to listen to. I will definately read the other books in the series and even added a Sookie Stackhous book to my wish list. I am not a paranormal fan so don't let that scare you away.

Another great book!

What made the experience of listening to Grave Surprise the most enjoyable?

The constant surprises in the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Toliver of course! He is straight forward and not as complicated as his half sister.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator is not very good in my opinion. She speaks like a older woman when the character is like 20 something. The way she cuts her words short and sharp is annoying. I don't like her at all, but since I have a long commute, audible is best for me. Since listening to all books, I have gotten use to her, but still made the experience less enjoyable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope

Any additional comments?

Nope

Enjoyed the oblique references to Rhodes College.

A good read. Harris balanced the tension.

Same story line, different setting as book 1

Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Alyssa Bresnahan?

Probably not...I listened to book 1 & book 2 back to back. I found the settings & characters changed but the plot was fairly similar.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Alyssa Bresnahan?

I didn't mind the narrator like other listeners
