Publisher's summary

Twenty-something Harper Connelly has a gift. After being struck by lighting as a child, she discovered an eerie ability to locate the deceased.

In Memphis, skeptical Professor Nunley wants her to demonstrate her skill at an ancient cemetery. There, Harper stands atop a grave and says there are two bodies entombed: one centuries old, but the other, a young girl named Tabitha.

Her assertion holds water. Tabitha has been missing for two years - and now the police are suspicious of Harper. So with her loyal stepbrother, Tolliver, Harper begins to amass clues that will solve the case.

A nice surprise.

I really liked this story, it has interesting and likeable characters, kept me guessing and the narrator was easy to listen to. I will definately read the other books in the series and even added a Sookie Stackhous book to my wish list. I am not a paranormal fan so don't let that scare you away.

Another great book!

What made the experience of listening to Grave Surprise the most enjoyable?

The constant surprises in the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Toliver of course! He is straight forward and not as complicated as his half sister.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator is not very good in my opinion. She speaks like a older woman when the character is like 20 something. The way she cuts her words short and sharp is annoying. I don't like her at all, but since I have a long commute, audible is best for me. Since listening to all books, I have gotten use to her, but still made the experience less enjoyable.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope

Any additional comments?

Nope

Enjoyed the oblique references to Rhodes College.

A good read. Harris balanced the tension.

Same story line, different setting as book 1

Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Alyssa Bresnahan?

Probably not...I listened to book 1 & book 2 back to back. I found the settings & characters changed but the plot was fairly similar.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Alyssa Bresnahan?

I didn't mind the narrator like other listeners

Another great story.

Once again, Harris produced another fun story. Thank you! I'm looking forward to the next two books in this series.

needs editing to be reviewed.

Book was great. Some transitions were extremely poor as a result of editing the book. On 2 or 3 occasions the end of a chapter was cut off as the next chapter began.

Grave-ly entertaining

This is a lovely series with a divine perspective. Enlightening, easy to read, no head scratching, just a good read…well listen.

Bizarre addition to a great story series

I enjoy the story of Harper Connelly and her brother Tolliver. This book provides the strongest story yet and truly proves Charlaine Harris wasn't a one hit wonder with Sookie Stackhouse. However, this story takes a bizarre turn that seems to be a desperate attempt to inject some tension or conflict into the story when the author just ran out of other ideas. Although I'm familiar with blended families, this plot device, at least to me, is distracting and contrived. I hope it gets resolved quickly as it ruins a good story.

Entertaining!

I enjoyed this book from start to finish - though only 2nd book in I'm a little sick of them always being under suspicion for murder because she finds the dead body and how it died. Like what they're doing with her relationship with her step-brother. Look forward to the next book in the series!!
