Publisher's summary

New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris pens darkly inventive paranormal tales, including the immensely popular Sookie Stackhouse novels.

With Grave Secret, Harris returns to her beloved Harper Connelly series to deliver a thrilling mystery.

Ever since Harper was struck by lightning, she’s been able to see and hear the last memories of the dead. Going on the road with her stepbrother Tolliver, she uses this unwanted gift to solve crimes and bring clients closure. Now, besides handling a budding romance with Tolliver, Harper is on the trail of a particularly gruesome killer in rural Texas, and she must act quickly before more lives are lost.

A tale of dark desires and even darker intentions, Harris’ fourth book in the series shows why she’s become a household name in fiction.

Great story.

The story moves along at a nice pace and the narrator is quite good. I really liked it. I would recommend to anyone.

Charlaines best series

Of all the books and or series that ms. Harris has written( I've read everyone of them) this is my favorite series. It's twisted but believable. It's not like I don't like the Sookie series or the Shakespear novles ..I do. This has more depth written into the characters and most importantly it wasn't written into the ground, milked for everything it had. The main theme is unusual..a young woman,Harper, injured by a lightning strike and her step brother Toliver travel around the country using her skills that Harper acquired from said strike to find dead remains. A whole ten cans of worms are available with this premise. Please know this is a strange series that I couldn't wait for each book to be published..even more than the Sookie series.

This was a wonderful series to listen to.

I enjoyed listening to the entire series. Sad that I've reached the end of the story. I would strongly recommend this book and the three that go with the series.

Satisfactory final conclusion

This is the 4th (and last, [sigh]) Harper Connelly book. Harper is able to find dead bodies as a result of a lightning strike when she was a teenager. She and her "brother" travel from place to place selling their services to people who want more information about their deceased loved ones.

The best part of this series is the developing relationship between Harper and Tolliver. In this book, more family members become involved and the two of them try to figure out what happened to her sister years before. The characters are wonderful, and Bresnahan does a masterful job creating the character of Harper (the book is written in first person).

I'm glad that Harris brought the series to a logical conclusion. She had stated a few months ago that the series was finished after this book, and it leaves the reader satisfied that the lives of the characters have stabilized with the discovery of those "grave secret"s in the title.

It wasn't a typical Harris book, and I'm sure it will be criticized for that, but I enjoyed it very much. It was necessary to bring closure to the series to focus on Harper's personal tragedies, and that made the plot structure slightly more predictable than that of the previous books in the series. However, I REALLY didn't see the climax coming. Harris did a fantastic job of tying loose ends together and having a true conclusion to the series.

Last book in series but ties it all together

Would you listen to Grave Secret again? Why?

I'd listen to the whole series again. Charlaine Harris is fantastic at urban paranormal, and this is one of the most unusual paranormals I've read. Harper and her brother find dead people, and how they died. (that's all they do) can't say who killed them if it was murder, just how they died. So many times they have to explain themselves because people don't believe they're for real even if they are put to tests. Each time they do a reading for some one it ends up really coming back to kick them. This is the last book in the series and I will miss them but it really ties together really well and puts all the mysteries about Harper and Tolliver well. Has a solid ending and it's very satisfying

What other book might you compare Grave Secret to and why?

None this is a very unusual paranormal series

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wish I could all four books kept you on edge to the very end of each book

Any additional comments?

Each book should be read in order in this series. Because each book depends on the story of the previous book. I do promise by the time you get to the last book, you'll feel like it was a real roller coaster ride and well worth the credits. Ms. Harris is a fantastic paranormal writer.

Sorry the series is over.

While I don't want the series to end, this book tied things up nicely. You really get an understanding of the conditions Toliver and Harper grew up in and what their family is and was really like.
