In the sixties, Briony Cavanagh ran a string of the most notorious brothels in London. Only Briony knew what went on behind those doors, and she never opened her mouth - unless she stood to benefit. Only Briony knew the painful road she'd travelled to get there. From an impoverished childhood that ended with shocking betrayal, she was determined to be mistress of her own fate. But along with success came risk and danger. And the Goodnight Lady had her own secret place that was always shadowed by loss.

one of the best most unputdownable books I've come across . so sad it came to an end !
Couldn't put it down. kept me gripped to the end. The narrator is brilliant too.
"First Class Audio Book"
This audiobook went beyond my expectations.
The excellent narration coupled with a wonderful story makes this is a must listen!
Perfect. Strong women, heartfelt and gripping. Narrative good as usual. I would recommend - currently making my way through the series on Audible.
"Hooked from the very beginning"
I wasn't sure what to expect, so I was pleasantly surprised, I was hooked from the very beginning. Martina Cole's description of The interracial relationship was gripping and emotional. I would say this is one of her best, including the exceptional narrating, you won't be able to stop listening.
Really enjoyed book, sorry it's finished. Love the span of years, the changes in the way of life. Great narrator.
I loved Annie Aldingtons narration. The story just draws you in, a bit gory in parts. The twins Daniel and Boysey remind you of the Kray twins
I would recommend you read this book.
Very well read as always by Anne.
Couldn't put it down.
Now on to the next Martina Cole book.
A great story but Briony Cavanagh is a horrible character very unsympathetic to my mind
