Meet Roy Ballard, freelance videographer with a knack for catching insurance cheats. He's working a routine case, complete with hours of tedious surveillance, when he sees something that shakes him to the core. There, with the subject, is a little blond girl wearing a pink top and denim shorts - the same outfit worn by Tracy Turner, a six-year-old abducted the day before. When the police are skeptical of Ballard's report - and with his history, who can blame them? - it's the beginning of the most important case of his life.

Suspenseful, unpredictable, sarcastic
Learning about Roy's background - how his lost child gave him a personal stake in finding the little girl.
I liked the pacing of the narration.
I laughed at times at some of Roy's comebacks. He obviously has a need waiting to be fulfilled.
There are few things better than a good story well told!
The protagonist was awesome. Very engaging main character.
It didn't sound like a performance. His reading blended so well with the story it was like a movie in my head.
Just a note that there are two story lines going on here. Past and present. I think Mr. Rehder does a good job signaling but just be aware.
Driving to and from work has never been so enjoyable. Traffic jams are welcome...!
Story often difficult to follow because of the narrator's lack of pauses between key events, and the use of only one voice throughout. It would also have been a lot less tedious a listen if narrator would have used different voices.
I would give this story a 5 star rating but I'm put off by the use of profanity. Thankfully, it was more limited.
The narrator did a good job. made it easy to listen to, with the right amount of tension. No loose ends when the story was done.
~Bead Goddess Mary~
This book was a really good read/listen. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get into a book with a great plot, awesome characters, and surprising twists and turns. You will not be disappointed!
Yes. It was a good story.
When the girl was found.
When the mom took time to call about the girl she saw at McDonalds
Yes it was. I couldn't wait for the next time I could listen.
I loved the humor throughout the book.
The narrator was pretty good, although I think he could've put just a little bit more emotion into it....the story line was a bit confusing at 2 times in the story, with all the names you ad to keep track of...but pretty good.
