Suicide bombers are easy to spot. They give out all kinds of tell-tale signs, mostly because they're nervous. By definition they're all first-timers. Riding the subway in New York at 2:00 in the morning, Reacher knows the 12 giveaway signs to look out for. Watching one of his fellow passengers, he becomes sharply aware: one by one, she ticks off every bulletpoint on his list.
So begins the heartstopping new thriller starring today's most admired action hero, the gallant and enigmatic loner Jack Reacher.

i normally love this character, but i'm getting a bit bored with him. the book has an absolutely brilliant beginning and completely draws you in, but reacher is (literally and figuratively) getting a bit old.
it's a bit like a re-hash of his older novels, except it's written in the first person, which is rather odd. but come on jack, it's 2011! i refuse to believe someone could still be so technologically illiterate. learn how to use a computer/mobile phone etc. my mum's nearly 80 and she is more techno-literate than Reacher! it's really beginning to stretch credulity and my patience.
overall a solid, (but apart from first few chapters), unexciting listen.
Reacher grabs your attention with the "List" and keeps it with cleverness and guile. The finale is pure Reacher and Worth the listen in itself !
I think the Narrater should have been Reacher in the movie - even if he is too short (?) his voice is Reachers voice to me.
"GET OFF THE TRAIN JACK!"
I am a Jack Reacher fan and clearly spend much of my subconscious energy being him. It works to a formula, it's a Lee Child, Jack Reacher story we expect and demand nothing less.
I read the other review and just thought, If you don't like mice don't go to Disney. I for one wasn't disappointed. Great story and, dispite the enevitable, you are on the edge all the way through.
Keep the crazy hollywood casting out of your head Jack Reacher is here to save us all, and he's good at it.
Another good Reacher story, well read with a good plot line. One piece of advice Jack ; if you want to continue your current successful lifestyle, take just one day off from killing people and do a computer course.....
"Reacher at his best"
His best is killing people. I lost count of the number he killed in this one. Reacher keeps you riveted to the end.
"Gave up listening:((((("
Set myself a task. Read all of the Reacher books. But this book was a chore. Didn't like it one bit!!!!!
Yes, because I know he has written good books before. This one was a let down. I didn't find it compelling like the other books that I had listened to.
He read the book okay. It was when he did the different voices that it detracted from the book. I don't think he is the right voice for this genre of books
Disappointment. Listened to the same chapter a couple of time and still did not get it. Also kept falling asleep
The next book 61 hours needs to make up for my disappointment!!!!!
"Another great Reacher novel"
Yes I love all Jack Reacher novels and a second listen always gives more
Any other of the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child
When Jack gets all the badies!!
Good flow very intriguing.
Couldn't stop listening.
Getting used to his story telling now, he is becoming an old friend.
Really enjoyed this one and i/ve listened to a few now. Can't wait for more movies to be made of his books Jack is my hero.
"Echoes of Chadler"
Brilliant, not listened to anything by Lee Child before, just had him recommended.
Style of narration very Chandleresque as it moves along with brief but punchy sentences - I certainly was left with some grim pictures in my head.
Story line very good and kept me engaged only loosing it on a very sunny afternoon in the garden when I drifted off in the sunshine...had to rewind to where I last remembered.
Have already downloaded another Lee Child story.
ps hope the rest have recording quality as good as this one as in the car, no hiss was apparent.
As an avid Child reader and a Reacher fan I found this book a slow burner but intelligently sequenced enough to keep me turning the pages. The plot itself had enough levels and misconceptions from Reacher's investigative process. The performance from Jeff Harding was as solid as ever as he resonates the character of Reacher in his well developed tone.
"Great Reacher story"
One of the best reacher stories so far. For me, Lee Child went off the boil in a couple of the previous books but this one is right up there - as good as the first reacher story (almost).
"Good Reacher not Great Reacher"
Much Better than Die Trying but it did drag in parts
Jeff Harding as usual is great
