Suspense Filled Read.

Loved the suspense created by the author, but I found her to be a little unnecessarily verbose at times in her description of details.

Also, if she had a purpose in ending the book the way she has, it does not convey itself ŵell at all. The ending seemed incomplete and as a result left me feeling bewildered and wondering what she intended her readers to infer from it.

Other than that, the book keeps us hooked into the psyches and motivations of the characters. Basically, by seeing how Nick's background and childhood is and due to it, whether he's actually capable of doing what he's being accused of.

Once the truth is revealed, Amy's psyche keeps us interested in the way she is portrayed by the author. All in all it is an interesting portrayal of the mind of a sociopath, and exactly how they are able to reason out their actions with such a remorseless attitude.

The Games Partners Play

This book begins as a mystery. It sucks you in, you want more and more. Through the story, you are appalled and shocked at what is revealed. You simply can't believe what is happening. Each of the characters are deep and richly developed, intriguing in their own way. At the end, we are left with what we started with, a husband and a wife, a couple and from that we realize how they are really no different than most any of us and that is the most appalling part.

Cannot recommend

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. That is until the last 2 chapters. I don't want to give away the ending, so I'll just say; WTH???

I struggled to finish this book. The book kept you guessing which is good but. I didn't like the ending.

Good, but not Flynn's best

I may be unfairly deducting one star from the overall rating and the story rating simply because I am comparing it to Sharp Objects (which I read, rather than listened to on Audible), which was outstanding. Overall, this kept me interested. The readers (on Audible) were great. The twists in plot were provided by the very twisted characters. I did care what happened to the characters, and the fact that I was disappointed in the ending possibly says more about my feelings about the characters than about the plot. Better than many books, just not Flynn's finest.

Wow, just wow!

What a great book. I’d go to bed at night wondering what was going to happen next and could not wait to get the kids off to school to read some more. It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It’s a must read!

Great Audiobook experience

I read GG when it first came out. I enjoyed it then and feel that it is a pioneer work of the modern (21st Century) domestic thriller.
All these years later, the audiobook experience was completely different then the hard copy read. Kirby Heyborne and Julia Whelan really capture Nick and Amy. Two very complex and nuanced and often loathsome characters. Together, they bring a life and perspective to the characters (and the novel overall) that I didn’t notice before.

It’s a very well done, well narrated, well produced/directed audiobook. I give it 👍🏼👍🏼
