Bartholomew Lampion is born on a day of tragedy and terror that will mark his family forever. All agree that his unusual eyes are the most beautiful they have ever seen. On this same day, a thousand miles away, a ruthless man learns that he has a mortal enemy named Bartholomew. He embarks on a relentless search to find this enemy, a search that will consume his life. And a girl is born from a brutal rape, her destiny mysteriously linked to Barty and the man who stalks him.

At the age of three, Barty Lampion is blinded when surgeons remove his eyes to save him from a fast-spreading cancer. As he copes with his blindness and proves to be a prodigy, his mother counsels him that all things happen for a reason and that every person's life has an effect on every other person's, in often unknowable ways.

At 13, Bartholomew regains his sight. How he regains it, why he regains it, and what happens as his amazing life unfolds and entwines with others results in a breathtaking journey of courage, heart-stopping suspense, and high adventure.

    "Great Book"

I have been using audible for several years now. I have rated books but never felt compelled to write a review. The character development was outstanding, I experienced an uncommon bond with the characters. I laughed, I cried. You rob your self by not enjoying this book.

    "A feel-good/bad story"

Koontz manages to marry good and evil so masterfully in this book that I was creeped out on one page and hopeful on another.

The narrator is superb, particularly as Junior, whose view of morality is so inside-out as to be comical if the consequences of it were not so horrific. His self-righteous indignation comes shining through in his incessant and ridiculous self-talk.

The narrator's take on the children -- Bartie and Angel -- in this story is equally effective. Koontz perceptive dialogue is brought to life in such a way that I couldn't help but giggle and smile at their childlike conversations and simple truths.

As usual Koontz draws on some very interesting scientific theory to make this story work. A little quantum mechanics/physics adds an interesting dimension to this human drama/thriller. He doesn't overdo it, and somehow makes you want to believe it's all possible.

    "THE best Koontz book!"

Great characters, great story, great book. This is easily Koontz's best book and one of my favorite books of all time. It was a sad moment when I finished this book, as I never wanted it to end. Absolute perfection! It is a crime not to read this book.

    "Excellent"

I have been a fan of Dean Koontz for many years and his writing gets better all the time. From The Corner of His Eye is no exception. From the very beginning the reader is catapulted into a world of shock then a place of awe and back again. The grating of good against evil is like that of fingernails on a blackboard. The characters are so well drawn that you love them and hate them with equal ferocity. In all of this there is a benevolent sense of humor and a deep belief that good will triumph over evil..... but there will be a cost. Great read.

    "wonderment"

Rapidly, Koontz has become one of my favorite authors. His way with descriptive words never ceases to amaze me. I have read none of his books so far that I wouldn't recommend highly as a must read.
From the Corner of His Eye is so descriptive that I've played back sections just to listen to the descriptions and to wonder why the 'normal' person can't delight in the daily wonders that Koontz can so vividly describe. Some people consider this to make some of his books drag and there are times that I find myself thinking the same thing - then I relax and realize that he's making you enjoy the experience instead of letting you rush through it.
The wonderment of the prodigy and the horrors of the twisted is very evident in this book. The description of Junior and his development puts you right in the mind of the psychopath. Barty is a total delight as a child and gives you hope for mankind.

    Story
    "Great characters. Weak plot."

I was totally engrossed. Could not stop listening, waiting to see where this was all leading...Except that it led to a very disappointing point. After all the suspense and fast paced thrills, the story just fizzled. I loved the characters and the sense of humor, but, in the end, I felt let down. Not sure I would try another Koontz -- as much as I enjoyed the first three-quarters of the novel.

The reader was pitch perfect, delivering the funnily irreverent thoughts of the evil character with just the right amount of mirth.

    "A really great book!"

One of the few really "stand out" books I've read or listened to for quite a while. Well written and just as important in this context, WELL READ--excellent reader. I'd recommend this book highly.

    "I chuckled, I cringed, I cheered, I cried..."

Dean Koontz is becoming my favourite writer. Having finished listening to the "Odd Thomas" books and re-reading "Strangers", I was surprised at how this book grabbed me. One would think that the anticlimatic ending would spoil it, but Mr. Koontz ties loose ends together nicely. 'Nuff said. You must read/listen to this one yourself.

Absolutely a "sit on the edge of your seat" book. It was so good I had to listen to it again.

    "A Very Good Listen"

I got this one and finished it in one day simply because I couldn't seem to stop. It was written in such a way where I was pulled in and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next and how it was all going to unfold and connect. Koontz did a nice job with character development, and this one wasn't too freaky for him. Although it does have some concepts a bit "Out of the Box" but nothing too intense. I recommend this one!
